Today we’d like to introduce you to East Hale.
Hi East, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
From a young one, I was raised in the music business. I even ventured into it as the 3rd generation. My grandfather and mother had record labels. I was always around, behind the scenes. I was exposed to a lot of different cultures because of my father also being a business owner and having international friends. I’ve been an artist and musician from a young age. Creativity has always been a part of my life. In middle school, I started airbrushing different names and designs on sweatshirts for friends. I would hand paint shoes to change the colors. I started dressing some of the artists my mother had. I started designing my own clothes in high school and always talked about having my own brand and shoes. Today I do.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There is nothing smooth or easy about starting your own venture, especially when it comes to fashion on the level I want to take my brand to. In the beginning, I gave away a lot to family and friends at an effort to build the brand. That was a lot of money and time invested. I’ve had many late nights and early mornings working on pieces and creating designs. Time spent on the phones with foreign manufacturers and doing deals with a language barrier. Learning the ins and outs, the do’s and don’t. I have had major brands and fashion houses steal my ideas. I have major conversations with many high fashion houses about partnerships and even marketing campaigns. I continue to learn but I want to do things my own way and bring a fresh look to the culture and that’s never easy but this is a love of mine and I will rock my brand into my grave.

Halphs (pronounced Halves) “Stay Balanced” The Brand Ya Know! We are gaining to be the first Atlanta-based fashion brand to go international and create our own fashion house. We cater to Men, Women and Kid’s fashion. Athletic, Casual and Formal-wear. Creative classic looks with a nice flare. We also have our own line of shoes, Men and women. For the past eight years, we have been able to sustain and grow our brand independently.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
There is numerous amounts of effort that goes into learning and understanding the process. I gain most of my inspiration from my team and the people around me in life. I am an avid reader and indulge in music and art. My library is extensive and I listen to a lot of local underground artists and motivators. Sponge minded. I will soak up a game from anywhere if it’s valid and valuable.
