Today we’d like to introduce you to Elle Cantrell.
Hi Elle, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was introduced to Interior Design at a young age and knew I wanted to pursue a career in the field, so I studied at SCAD (Savannah College of Art & Design). During college I interned at a couple of firms in Atlanta and fell in love with residential design. When I started my career I worked jointly for an architect and interior designer. After 6.5 years full time in the industry, I founded Elle Du Monde. Now 9 years into my business I have a team of 7.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Yes and no. In this industry, every day has it’s set of challenges. We are constantly problem solving for construction, procurement, installation, and client curveballs. There have definitely been times when I wanted to through in the towel, but Interior Design is my passion and there is nothing else I’d rather do.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We specialize in construction based projects and have a heavy focus on interior architecture as well as design. One thing that sets us apart from other interior design firms is our ability to generate construction drawings in house. For many of our renovation projects we execute the permit sets and clients often turn to us to pull together the entire construction team including the builder, landscape architect, pool contractor, etc.
My team is super organized and we pride ourselves on making the construction process easier for everyone involved by providing all of the specifications and drawings before they are ever needed on site. We also closely manage our project budgets to prevent any suprises along the way.
We also direct import antiques from France and sell to designers, dealers, and clients nationwide.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up I was 100% the same person I am today – particular, organized, detail oriented, creative, decisive, impatient, and honest.
I’ve always loved fashion, interior design, traveling, and art.
