Hidden Gems: Meet Emily Olson of Luxe Organizing Solutions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Olson.

Emily Olson

Hi Emily, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am a Georgia native – I grew up in Decatur and my family still lives outside the city. I went to school for physical therapy and was a practicing orthopedic therapist up until the Spring of 2020. Fast forward through two pregnancies, covid, and job changes my family moved out to Greensboro on Lake Oconee. I had every intention of moving my practice out with us (and even started to), but starting over made it pretty clear that I wasn’t passionate about it. I decided that I needed to make a change.

I have always loved interior design and organization and treat our home like a canvas. I believe that your space, whether large or small, should be a reflection of your personality, goals, and peace. After searching a bit, I was just about to accept a job as a custom closet designer when I realized something was missing. I loved creating beautiful spaces for clients, but I didn’t want to leave them with a blank canvas to figure out how to fill – something that is pretty stressful for a lot of people! I wanted to be able to put their items into their space, whether newly built or well lived in, with a system in place that would help to streamline their day and give back that calm that clutter can steal. From that point on, in late February of 2022, Luxe became a reality!

Our home is the base camp for our day to day life. It can either make or break our day, dependent on the energy, people, and setting in which we live. I am a mom of two children under the age of six and when I say that our home has some majorly disorganized moments…well, I mean it. I know from experience (and there are plenty of studies out there on the subject) that a home that is cluttered and disorganized can weigh on your mind. It is so much harder to be productive and maintain positivity when our “base camp” is stressful. What I have worked to impart upon clients through our mission is that, while we are creating systems that provide sustainable and organized space, we are not expecting the home to stay perfectly tidy 24/7. I can say with absolute certainty that this is, at the very least, impossible in my house with young children…but I also like it that way. The messes and toys that come with this show that there is life happening in our home. Our home is full of joy and excitement and fun and what I strive to impart through Luxe is the ability for our clients to have a home that regularly experiences all of these things and then can easily be brought back to status quo with carefully chosen systems and editing of items that are not truly loved or used.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As a business owner, I think everyone experiences different forms of adversity and struggles. Leaving a career that I spent the majority of my life working toward was certainly something I had a hard time with in some ways, but I don’t think that these opportunities and changes in our passions are by chance. I have been blessed with immense support throughout this process and have been fortunate to meet some amazing people along the way. I am not educated in business or marketing, I can certainly say that, and finding my way in those fields has been a complete learning process; however, I do believe that part of success is that idea that we need to ‘get comfortable being uncomfortable’ and I am leaning into that idea as I continue to grow my business and my knowledge surrounding it.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Luxe Organizing Solutions?
Luxe Organizing Solutions is a boutique home organizing firm dedicated to custom-curated and maintainable organization that both streamlines your day and brings peace to your space. We specialize in choosing the right system for your home and implementing this system in a way that focuses on your personal and family goals, as well as your desired aesthetic and design features. Whether you’ve been in your home for years or you’re in the middle of a custom build looking to start fresh, our goal is to bring a sense of calm to your most used spaces without wasting money on products that don’t cater to your needs. We work in any space in the home, with our specialties lying in organizing clients’ pantries, kitchens, closets, and vanities.

In addition to home organization for everyday use, we also offer services for real estate staging. This isn’t your typical staging with furniture, but rather staging of those areas in the home that can quietly make or break a buyer’s interest. We help to purge unwanted items, categorize, and organize in a way that will that will show potential buyers innovative ways that the space can be used and trigger their imagination as to how their personal items might fit into the space.

Alongside myself, I have five employees, working in varying team size dependent on the space and needs of the particular client. One thing that we strive to emphasize within our team is the importance of creating solutions that support and empower each client’s unique lifestyle. Our goal is not only to create a beautifully organized space, but also one that is maintainable, transformative, and empowers each client to reach his or her goals. When we complete a project, it is our hope that our clients will not only feel the tranquility that comes with an organized, decluttered space, but also that their home will be a haven for both the current owners and generations to come.

While we love working in client’s current homes, transforming an already loved space into something even more so, our team is also passionate about working alongside clients during their home build. Working with Luxe in the earlier phases of a client’s home provides the opportunity to tailor each space for optimal use from day one. Our team comes with a heartfelt desire to take the burden out of moving in and a large part of doing this is through our ability to see a space, envision the ways for it to function best for a given family based on their goals, and to bring that vision to life. When our clients walk into their new homes they can immediately start living in and loving their space, without the overload of boxes.

Luxe is dedicated to not only functional organization systems, but systems that are beautiful and complimentary of the client’s chosen aesthetic. We believe that being able to stay organized and fully enjoying your space don’t have to be in competition and we pride ourselves in finding a system that works for you, not against you.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
You have to adapt. There is nothing about owning a business, particularly one that is starting from the ground up, that goes exactly as planned. We are constantly evolving as a team and I work hard to ensure that I am aiming to learn and perfect our systems to make them as effective and efficient as possible, not only for our clients, but for my employees, as well.
