Hi Essence, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.

My name is Essence Clark. I am Founder and CEO of Essence Clark Virtual Consulting. It is important to have the right people in place regarding your business. I guarantee I will prove to be an asset to your business. We start with a 30 minute business consult where we will discuss your needs and how Essence Clark Virtual Consulting can assist. We review rates and customize a package that will support your efforts.

Personally, I am a Brooklyn, NY native. However, I have honestly earned my Georgia peach after residing here for 15 years. I am a single mother to two incredibly amazing children who will be graduating high school 2025 and a sweet puppy dog named Leo who truly lives by YOLO. I am a little bit of a gym rat and I even teach a fitness class or two. I am a serial entrepreneur striving to create ten different streams of income. I have a pretty active lifestyle and my children, puppy and businesses keep me rather busy.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has most definitely NOT been a smooth road. I started ECVC at a time when people weren’t receptive to having a virtual employee. Working from home wasn’t as practiced as it is today. People didn’t understand how they could manage someone they couldn’t see. Eventually someone gave me a chance to prove my worth. Then word of mouth became my only marketing tool. Slowly I grew but also lost clientele. It was my first business and I learned hard lessons. Lessons about working with family and friends… Lessons about not being afraid to stand by your price… Lessons that not everyone is your customer… among many others. However, I pushed forward and grew to 10 clients. I had two assistants and we were rocking!!! Then COVID hit! I lost 80% of my clientele because they lost their business. I had to let my assistants go. I went into a deep depression. I couldn’t get out of it. I couldn’t figure out how to scale. I couldn’t figure out how to get back what I lost and I couldn’t muster up the energy to do what was necessary.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The mission of Essence Clark Virtual Consulting is to free up time for business owners to do what they are most passionate about and leave the mundane tasks to us. Whatever tasks you don’t want to do or don’t know how to do, ECVC can. Whether it’s checking your email/voicemail, managing your calendar, bookkeeping, or building a website, ECVC can support you. Here at ECVC there is no mundane task and what we don’t know, we will figure out! We have accomplished our mission if you are able to focus on what you, as a business owner, are good at.

I am very proud when my clients acknowledge feeling the level of care we try to provide them.

ECVC is currently re-imagining its mission. Now we are striving to be an agency who not only supports your business with various tasks, but we also match dedicated Virtual Executive Assistants to business owners needing hands-on support up towards 40 hours a week. Taking your administrative support virtual saves your business money and reduces liability. The added bonus… ECVC’s management team will partner with you on managing your VEA and their projects. So, you get two assistants for the price of one.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I believe my willingness to help others is the most important characteristic to my success. I’ve always been a person who wanted to help in anyway, I can. Especially as an empath.

With that willingness to help others, I also had to cultivate the willingness to learn. I wasn’t always skilled enough for some requests and it required me to become a student again to be able to assist.
