Today we’d like to introduce you to Fatima Mann.
Hi Fatima, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
This part of my story begins with baring my soles, as a being the world calls a Black woman, in April 2015 in Austin, Texas. Baring my soles, taking off my shoes was not recognized as scientific as it is today. Now baring one’s soles is referred to as earthing, being grounded, and connected to the earth. There is science behind the benefits of placing one’s feet on the earth. The scientific benefits of baring one’s soles on the earth are substantial but the mindfulness it has brought to my life is my story. The journey of baring my soles has been one of love and healing.
The last seven years of baring my soles has taught me to be aware of my surroundings, what I say, what I do, and how I engage with myself and others. Most importantly baring my soles on the earth has shown me that I had a colonized consciousness and trauma that I didn’t know existed. Being connected to Mother Nature has shown me that Buddha, Jesus, and Black Madonna were right, we are all one. We are connected to ants, trees, clouds, birds, bees, and our fellow human beings. Baring my soles taught me many things, the few that have played the biggest role in where I am today is; it is okay to be connected to others; turning around doesn’t mean you have to go back down the same path traveled, and our perspectives truly depend on the paths we choose to take.
My story shifted when I chose to bare my soles on the earth. I began to question everything I believed to be true. I began to witness the power of allowing myself to dare to practice loving and healing myself. Baring my soles taught me that I could love and heal myself and naturally others will experience love and healing too. Five years into baring my soles on the earth, I met Brandis Rawls, and we joined forces to provide Love and Healing Work to the world. When Brandis and I decided to start Love and Healing Work, we dared to bare our souls and bring love and healing into people’s personal and professional lives.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Love and Healing Work is not an easy road. Allowing oneself to pause, be still, acknowledge the harm one’s caused, and forgiveness for self is not easy. It is not simple to incorporate practices that acknowledge trauma and how trauma impacts how one engages with themselves and others. It is not a simple task to invite people to think in a way they were never given permission personally and professionally.
Love and Healing Work is a practice of engaging consensually and non-harmfully with oneself, others, and the planet.
The current world we live in has convinced us we cannot choose to engage in ways that don’t cause harm to themselves and others. Love and Healing Work invites people to expand, heal, and transform in ways our society has not taught us. Our society has not created a smooth road showing people that they can choose to rest, be present, and meet their bottom line. Love and Healing Work is a journey, a business, and an innovative way of creating space where people know they belong where they choose to be.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Love and Healing Work cultivates various experiences for people to expand, heal, and transform how they engage with themselves, others, and the planet. We specialize in aiding people curate spaces of consent and non-harm. We collaborate with people to create spaces to heal race-based trauma where people learn that racism has caused everyone impacted harm. Our spaces are consensual and non-harmful. We are proud of our unique approach to diversity, equity and inclusion work.
We connect, reflect, practice, and engage with people who are seeking to incorporate healing practices within their professional spaces. We guide people through the discomfort of learning new ways to deconstruct limiting and divisive concepts such as race, gender, religion, and other falsehoods created by systemic oppression.
We aid people in transforming their consciousness through connecting with their heads and their hearts. We provide facts based on research, expertise, and lived experiences to curate spaces where people can unapologetically show up as their authentic selves. We have combined mindfulness, healing and human-centered practices to engage people in learning how to engage consensually and non-harm.
We have chosen to center people’s lived experiences as an essential part of our process in aiding create policies, practices, and procedures where everyone knows they belong. We pride ourselves on connecting with people to tailor unique experiences for those seeking to be culturally mindful, healing, and human-centered. As our co-birther Brandis Rawls says, “everybody wins,” when they choose to engage in our offerings.
What does success mean to you?
Success happens when everyone in one’s circle has what they need to live a full, happy, and well life. Success happens when everyone in the tribe can eat, sleep, be clothed, rest, relax and have access to healing modalities needed to embody a full life with ease and abundance. Success happens when everyone has what they need in the manner that aligns with their life’s purpose. Success happens when everyone knows and chooses to be their true and authentic selves consensually and non-harmfully.
