Today we’d like to introduce you to Felicia Lashawn.
Hi Felicia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story is rooted in resilience, reinvention, and a commitment to becoming the best version of myself—no matter what season of life I’m in. I often say my journey has been full of roundabouts, detours, and unexpected green lights, but every twist in the road has shaped the woman and entrepreneur I am today.
I’ve spent more than 25 years building a life in Loganville, Georgia while raising three daughters and staying deeply involved in the lives of my six grandchildren. But alongside motherhood, I was quietly building something else: the foundation of a business that would change the direction of my life.
In 2009, right in the middle of one of the most uncertain economic climates, I founded Pyramid Pool Monitoring Service. I didn’t come from a corporate background. I didn’t have investors or a roadmap. What I did have was determination, a strong work ethic, and a vision for something bigger.
I started Pyramid at my dining room table—creating schedules, printing spreadsheets, making cold calls, and doing whatever needed to be done. In those early days, I drove from community to community meeting board members, knocking on doors, and introducing myself to property managers who had never heard of pool monitoring as a standalone service. I had to educate people on what we offered, why it mattered, and how it would protect their residents and their reputation.
There were no shortcuts. I wore every hat: CEO, HR, operations, training, scheduling, payroll, and customer service—sometimes all in the same day. Over the years, through grit, consistency, and countless learning curves, I grew Pyramid from a local idea into a multi-state operation serving HOAs, apartment communities, senior living facilities, hotels, fitness centers, and resorts. Today, the company supports over 90 employees and continues to operate in multiple states across the Southeast.
Building Pyramid taught me how to create systems, lead teams, handle crises, secure contracts, and rebuild after losing them. It taught me that success doesn’t come from perfection—it comes from not giving up when it feels like everything is falling apart.
Those lessons shaped the version of me that exists today.
As I continued to evolve personally and professionally, I realized I had a calling beyond just running a business. I’ve experienced transitions—divorce, raising kids alone, becoming an empty nester, navigating health changes, rediscovering myself, and learning how to stand strong as a single woman building her next chapter. Through all of that, I felt led to create a space for other women who are also navigating life’s transitions.
That’s what sparked the early development of my new venture, The RESET Journey. I’m currently building this brand as a coaching and wellness platform for women in transition—women who are navigating life changes such as divorce, empty nesting, career shifts, perimenopause or menopause, self-discovery, loss, and stepping into life as a single woman again.
The RESET Journey is being designed to become a safe place where women can pause, breathe, and rebuild. I’m developing resources like journals, workshops, digital products, and a podcast called Girl, Let’s Reset: The Journey Podcast to support this community. I’m also completing my INLP life coach certification so I can serve women with even deeper intention and professionalism.
My story is still being written. I’m growing, evolving, and building the next chapter with purpose. Everything I’ve lived through—every pivot, every blessing, every hardship—has prepared me to serve women who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of what comes next.
Where I am today is the result of faith, hard work, and a willingness to start over, even when starting over feels scary.
My journey isn’t just about entrepreneurship—it’s about becoming. And now, I’m committed to helping other women do the same: reset, reclaim their power, and rise into the life they were meant to live.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has definitely not been a smooth road. I don’t think any entrepreneur’s journey ever is—and mine is no exception. My story is full of obstacles, lessons, and seasons where I had to reset, regroup, and rebuild more times than I can count.
When I started Pyramid Pool Monitoring Service in 2009, I was a single mother navigating divorce, raising three daughters, and trying to keep life steady while starting a business from scratch. I didn’t have a mentor, a blueprint, or a team. I had to figure everything out the long way. In those early years, the biggest challenge was simply learning what I didn’t know—employment law, scheduling systems, contracts, customer service, managing staff, and handling the financial side. Every mistake became a teacher.
Staffing was one of the hardest parts. Managing a large seasonal workforce—many of whom are young, part-time, or working their first job—comes with constant challenges. Call-outs, no-shows, late notices, last-minute emergencies… you name it, I’ve dealt with it. When you run a company whose success depends on people showing up, you learn quickly how to communicate, train, and lead under pressure. There were summers when I personally filled in at pools, drove routes to cover shifts, or stayed up all night building the next day’s schedule because three people quit in one afternoon.
There were contract losses that broke my heart and contract wins that stretched my capacity. I’ve had to rebuild systems after unexpected setbacks, navigate financial stress, and learn how to bounce back when clients changed management or cut budgets. I’ve had years where everything felt aligned—and years where I wondered if the business would survive.
One of the biggest challenges has been navigating transitions in my personal life while trying to stay strong professionally. Going through divorce, balancing motherhood, stepping into life as a single woman, and trying to maintain stability for my children while keeping a business afloat was overwhelming at times. There were moments when I felt stuck between who I was, who I needed to be, and who I was becoming.
But something that helped me tremendously—and something I will always acknowledge—was the support of my family. My daughters, mom and I created this business together step by step. They helped me create new systems, streamline operations, and implement processes that brought in new revenue and gave me peace of mind. We truly built Pyramid as a family, and their hands, hearts, and ideas are woven into the foundation of its success.
I also owe a lot of my entrepreneurial grit to my father. Growing up, I watched him run multiple businesses, and without realizing it, I was learning skills that would become life-saving later on. From customer service to operations to problem-solving, my dad taught me how to wear many hats long before I ever knew I’d need them. Those early experiences helped me step into every role Pyramid required—from scheduling to sales to crisis management—without fear.
Every obstacle became a part of my story—not something that defined me, but something that refined me.
Those challenges are exactly why I felt called to start building The RESET Journey. I know what it feels like to be in transition, to be overwhelmed, to feel like life is changing faster than you can process it. And I want other women to know they’re not alone.
No, it hasn’t been smooth. But every challenge prepared me for the next version of myself—and my next chapter.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Pyramid Pool Monitoring Service | The Reset Journey?
Pyramid Pool Monitoring Service
Pyramid Pool Monitoring Service is a 15-year pool operations company that provides professional Pool Monitors—not lifeguards—to communities, HOAs, apartments, senior living facilities, fitness centers, hotels, and resorts across the Southeast. We specialize in creating safe, clean, and well-managed pool environments where residents can enjoy their amenities without the chaos or liability issues that unmanaged pools often bring.
Our monitors oversee the pool deck, enforce rules, check in residents, maintain cleanliness, handle incident reporting, and ensure the pool environment remains a safe, family-friendly space. Pyramid’s mission is to provide property managers and community boards with peace of mind—knowing their pool is being protected by trained professionals.
What sets us apart is our people and our systems.
We’ve built customized operational structures that match the needs of each community we serve. Our entire scheduling, training, and reporting processes were created to support a high-volume seasonal workforce and keep communication flowing smoothly between our team and our clients. Over the years, we’ve built a reputation for consistency, transparency, and professionalism—qualities not always easy to maintain in seasonal industries.
I am most proud of the integrity behind our brand. Pyramid started as a one-woman operation and grew to support over 90 employees because we remained committed to doing things the right way even when it wasn’t the easy way. We continually refine our systems to improve employee accountability, customer satisfaction, and operational flow. My daughters have helped me update and modernize the company—introducing new software, new processes, and new approaches that increased revenue and made day-to-day operations smoother and more efficient.
I want readers to know that Pyramid is more than a staffing company—it’s a partner. We take pride in helping communities elevate their amenities, protect their investments, and create enjoyable summer experiences. And as we continue expanding our services into light facility maintenance and enhanced bathroom/pump room care, our goal remains the same: deliver dependable service that property managers can trust.
The RESET Journey
The RESET Journey is the next chapter of my entrepreneurial path—a coaching and wellness brand I am currently building to support women in transition. These include women navigating life’s major shifts such as divorce, empty nesting, career changes, perimenopause and menopause, rediscovery, healing, and stepping into life as a single woman again.
The RESET Journey’s mission is simple:
Help women slow down, breathe, and take back control of their lives—one guided step at a time.
I’m currently developing coaching programs, workshops, journals, guided workbooks, the RESET subscription box, and a podcast called Girl, Let’s Reset: The Journey Podcast. Each offering is designed to give women space to reflect, let go, and rebuild without guilt or pressure.
What sets The RESET Journey apart is its blend of transparency, real-life experience, and INLP-informed coaching tools. I’ve lived through transitions myself—raised kids alone, navigated heartbreak, reinvented myself from scratch, built a business, and learned how to stand fully in my womanhood. I understand the emotional, spiritual, and mental reset that women often need but never know how to start.
Brand-wise, I am most proud of the honesty behind RESET.
This isn’t perfection or performative healing. It’s real. It’s raw. It’s relatable.
The brand represents:
– Rest from overwhelm
– Evaluation of what’s working and what isn’t
– Surrender of control and old patterns
– Elevation into new strength and clarity
– Transformation into the next chapter
I want readers to know that The RESET Journey is being built with intention. Every tool, workbook, and coaching experience is thoughtfully designed to walk women through their next season with confidence and support. Whether it’s through digital products, in-person gatherings, coaching sessions, or podcast conversations, RESET will offer women community, direction, and emotional safety.
At its core, The RESET Journey exists for one purpose:
To help women rediscover themselves and boldly step into the life waiting for them.
Any big plans?
My future plans are rooted in growth—both personally and professionally. I’m in a season where I’m building, expanding, and preparing for a new chapter that reflects the woman I am today and the woman I’m becoming.
For Pyramid Pool Monitoring Service, I’m focused on continuing to strengthen our systems, expanding our footprint, and enhancing the services we provide to communities across the Southeast. We are incorporating more structured maintenance services for pool areas, bathrooms, and pump rooms to offer communities a more complete amenity management experience. I’m also working on upgrading our technology, improving employee training, and developing leadership roles within the company so the business continues to scale sustainably and smoothly. After 15 years in this industry, I’m excited about positioning Pyramid for long-term growth with stronger infrastructure and new revenue streams.
At the same time, I’m pouring a great deal of vision and energy into building The RESET Journey. This next chapter of my career has my heart in a completely different way. I’m currently working on launching my signature coaching programs, finishing my INLP Life Coach certification, and creating digital products, guided journals, worksheets, and wellness tools to support women in transition. I’m also preparing to launch Girl, Let’s Reset: The Journey Podcast, which will open up honest conversations around healing, self-discovery, letting go, and rebuilding your life at any age.
One of my long-term goals for The RESET Journey is to establish it as both a business and a nonprofit arm—providing resources, workshops, community gatherings, and support for women who are navigating life changes and may not normally have access to coaching or emotional wellness tools. I’m passionate about creating a safe space where women can grow, connect, and rediscover themselves.
Personally, I’m planning for more alignment, more purpose, and more intentional living. I want to travel more, deepen my spiritual walk, continue my personal development journey, and create a lifestyle that reflects peace and fulfillment. I’m also excited to step into more speaking engagements, women’s events, and collaborations that allow me to share my story and help others embrace their own reset.
Overall, the big change ahead is stepping fully into the next version of myself—both as a CEO and as a woman. I’ve spent years building, supporting others, and keeping everything running. Now I’m building with intention, alignment, and joy. And I’m looking forward to a future where both of my brands impact lives, create opportunities, and continue to grow in ways that reflect the heart and purpose behind them.
