Today we’d like to introduce you to Hope Doc Tahira Lee.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am a Motivational Speaker/Author/Self Development Coach/Youth & Mental Health Advocate, affectionately referred to as The Real H.OP.E. Doc. 🙂
With over a decade in the self-development game, my passion for helping people achieve greater success is stamped on every page of my life. I get to live my passion every day as the Business Development Representative for The CEO Chicks Network. The CEO Chicks Network is an interactive mastermind group of established and aspiring entrepreneurs. Our community is designed to assist business women in building authentic relationships, generating leads and increasing their book of business. We SHARE some of our methods and exchange our ideas. WE DON’T BELIEVE IN HOLDING BACK! Our community operates from a place of abundance rather than scarcity. We believe where there is a wealth of information and wisdom there will be an unlimited supply of success. It is our goal to move you from potential to POWER. Our Motto is We Collaborate, We Create & We Dominate! We are CEO Chicks!
I’m also the Co-Founder and CEO of The H.O.P.E. HOUSE ORG. My husband, Tarik Lee aka “Mr. Beautiful” have enjoyed a beautiful Spiritual Partnership & Friendship for nearly two decades and have been blessed with 6 children. HUGE shout out to ALL of our children Roberto, Isaiah, Caleb, Tiana, Atiya, and Tarikah. I’m originally from Twenty-Nine Palms, CA, but currently split my time traveling between Atlanta, GA and Orlando, FL.
The H.O.P.E. HOUSE ORG is a (not-for-profit, 501c3 pending) Online Social Emotional Learning Community Resource for educators, parents, and the youth sector. H.O.P.E. stands for Helping – Others – Purse – Elevation. The “OTHERS” that we focus on, our youths aged 7-17 years old. We are Headquartered out of North Atlanta, GA with plans to extend our reach statewide within the next 3-5 years. The H.O.P.E. HOUSE ORG provides Online Support Forums, Resources, Community Events to raise awareness about SEL, mental health and family life coaching, tutoring services and much more.
Why did we start this movement? My Team and I and I embarked on this journey in 2010 because we saw preteens and young adults in our community struggle with social issues and lacking basic coping skills for life’s challenges. Instead of complaining about the issue, we wanted to be part of the solution.
In the earlier days, our grassroots program was started in our very own backyard with our community program called the YES Academy which stood for “Youth Empowerment School”. The YES Academy was run in partnership with Winter Springs Community Church in Winter Springs FL, special shout out to Pastor Terry and his wife Tina for trusting us with their youth program.
When we initially started the program with just a handful of youths, we had no idea that it would end up with bus loads of youth in attendance and working with other youth programs in the city of Orlando. I believe the appeal for the youth was that my partners and I really took the time to just listen to their problems and hear them out. Instead of telling them how to feel, we taught them practical ways to confront their fears, insecurities, and problems while breaking down the reasons why they should or shouldn’t do something in certain situations. The learning materials and curriculum was heavily centered around the seven life areas and social-emotional intelligence. We also made the program fun and geared towards their current interests. We also spent one-to-one time with each of our students, developed personal relationships with their parents and members of the community.
How has the movement progressed to date? The H.O.P.E. HOUSE ORG acts as a liaison for teachers, students, and parents, friends and family members to bridge the gap between what is being taught in school and in the real world where they are dealing with real-life social and emotional issues. We start by teaching them how to lean inside, build up their own self-esteem so that they can in turn have the confidence to do what they were called to do while treating others with respect and demanding their respect in return.
As of present date, with the help of the COMMUNITY and our AMAZING TEAM, we have successfully helped hundreds of families, individuals, and small businesses achieve greater success in all areas of life! We are excited to be in the final planning stages and are ready to break “virtual” and physical ground for our official HOPE HOUSE ORG Launch here in the Summer of 2023 in Atlanta. 🙂
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
A smooth road??? Well, of course not. Anything worth having, we believe, is worth working & praying for. We experienced a lot of challenges. The first challenge was getting people to “buy” into the reason why our community needed this and how we were going to transition from plan to execution with a lack or financial resources and staff. We also had many personal challenges to overcome over such as homelessness, issues with addiction, marriage and relationship trials and tribulations, and just the general the ebbs and flows of life.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
H.O.P.E. stands for Helping – Others – Purse – Elevation, and we are Headquartered out of Atlanta, GA. The youth sector are the “others” that we primarily assist. We specialize in SEI – Social Emotional Intelligence. The H.O.P.E House is a (not-for-profit, 501c3 pending) Social Emotional Learning Engagement Community for parents & preteens and young adults aged 7-17 years old. The Community Features Online Support Forums, Community Events to raise awareness about SEL, SEI, mental health and our Online Charter School, The H.O.P.E House Academy. We have successfully helped hundreds of families, individuals, and communities achieve greater success in all areas of life!
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t necessarily believe in good or bad luck. I do believe in blessings and favor! I believe that I am the Co-Creator of my own destiny and I have the ability to design the life or success of my choosing. For instance, when I look at my own life, there are many things outside my control that have allowed me to get to where I am today. I was lucky to be born into a great family and society with the resources to give me a great education. I was blessed to be born with the genes that made me smart enough to understand complex concepts and solve difficult problems for myself and others. I was favored enough to find a spouse who shares many of the same dreams and is willing to support my efforts in business and in life. I’ve been favored enough to stay physically healthy and mentally stable (for the most part) up to this point in my life.
If I’m totally honest, I would say at least 99% of my success was only possible because of The Most High’s favor, and these fortunate circumstances. All I did was make a decision to close the gap. By exerting a great deal of intentional, concerted effort in the small portion of life I was able to control, I’ve been able to attain many of the personal and financial goals I’ve set. I believe that anyone is capable of doing the same things that I have done. They just have to make the decision and put in the work. GOD is good!
