Today we’d like to introduce you to India Reid.
Hi India, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
As far back as I can remember, I have always had a need to write things down. I kept a journal as a kid and I would actually always use my planners for school to stay organized with assignments and notes. In my adult years my sister introduced me to one of the well known planner companies and I loved everything about it. I was head over heals for all the planners, journals and stickers I could get my hands on.
At this time in my life, I was really into growing and developing in my faith. I needed a place to be able to write down my goals and task but still incorporate my spiritual growth and motivation. I had found some really helpful faith journals but none of them included an area for me to add my everyday planning. In the beginning of 2019 I decided that I wouldn’t buy another planner. I began researching how I could create my own which would allow me to add the areas I needed for personal everyday planning, goals and faith. I created the first copy and used it for a while. I made some adjustments and it was just what I needed.
In the back of my mind I have always wanted to start a business but I never could put my hand on what business to start. As I was creating this planner something within me kept saying that this is it. I wanted to be able to help other women find a way to balance everyday life and stay motivated as they continued to grow spiritually. I showed some friends and family members what I was working on and they loved it. In the beginning of January 2020 I decided to move forward and start my business. By March 2020 we were hit by the pandemic and I thought there was no way I could start this business. Yet I stuck to my plans and continued to keep my faith. By November 2020 I opened my site online and since then I have been able to grow and create many more helpful planners, journals and stationary items.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. There has been so many learning curves to get through. The first learning curve I had to get through was how to create my items. I never realized how complex paper could be. You have different sizes, weights, textures and so many other things I have had to learn. Also, with this being my first business I have had to learn the ins and outs of starting and owning a business which can be a little overwhelming. In addition, I have a full-time job and family. I’ve had to learn how to balance out my time and not burn myself out from working.

I create custom planners, journals, notebooks and stationary items for women who want to stay organized with everyday life and be able to include staying in touch with their faith. All of my items are created not only to plan and achieve your goals but I want them to inspire and motivate. What sets my planner business apart from others is that I handmake each planner and journal. I also personally care about each customer. My hope is that as you are moving through each day whether good or bad one of my items will be the encouragement/motivation that helps you to never give up on you.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I honestly don’t believe in luck. All things are on purpose. Everything that has happened in my life and with my business has lead me to the exact point of where I am today. I may not understand the meaning behind everything but it has all happened for a reason. I try to do my best to enjoy all the good things to the fullest extent and find the learning lessons in the bad moments.
