Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacqueline Wade.
Hi Jacqueline, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey began with a desire to minister to women in prison. During my visits, I realized that many women faced immense challenges upon release, including the lack of stable housing, career training, and mentorship. It became clear to me that there was a significant gap in services to support these women as they reintegrated into society. I also recognized the need to create a platform for women’s empowerment, helping them rebuild their lives with dignity and opportunity.
Driven by this vision, I founded Attain Inspire Motivate, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing housing assistance, career training, and mentorship for women, especially those who have been incarcerated. Over time, I have worked to build a community of support for these women, giving them the tools and confidence they need to thrive.
Today, AIM Inc. is helping women regain control over their futures. It has been an incredibly rewarding journey, and I’m passionate about continuing this work, one woman at a time.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has certainly not been a smooth road. The journey to starting and growing Attain Inspire Motivate, Inc. has been filled with challenges, but each obstacle has strengthened my resolve to make a difference. One of the biggest struggles was securing sustainable funding. Nonprofits often face the challenge of maintaining financial support, and as we began, it was difficult to find consistent resources to cover our programs and services.
Another significant challenge was building partnerships and gaining the trust of the communities we serve. Many women who have been incarcerated or who are facing personal hardships have experienced betrayal or neglect, making it hard for them to trust new programs or people. It took time to establish relationships, show that we genuinely cared, and create a safe space where these women felt supported and empowered.
Additionally, navigating the complexities of nonprofit management and scaling the programs to reach more women, has been an ongoing learning process. There have been many long nights and moments of doubt, but every success, no matter how small, has made it worthwhile.
Despite these struggles, I have been continually encouraged by the progress we’ve made, the lives we’ve touched, and the resilience of the women we serve. The challenges have taught me valuable lessons, and they’ve made the victories even sweeter.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I am not a believer in luck but in timing. In my experience, it has played a role in both unexpected and meaningful ways, but it’s been more about timing, opportunity, and being prepared when those moments arise. While I wouldn’t attribute the success of Attain Inspire Motivate, Inc. solely to luck, there have certainly been moments where the right connections, partnerships, or resources seemed to fall into place at the perfect time. For example, when I first started the nonprofit, I wasn’t sure where funding would come from, but somehow, at just the right moment, a grant opportunity or donor came through when we needed it most. That felt like luck, but I also know it was a result of staying persistent and focused on our mission.
However, I’ve also experienced what might be considered “bad luck” in the form of challenges like funding gaps, unexpected obstacles, or partnerships that didn’t work out as planned. These moments can feel discouraging, but I believe they have taught me invaluable lessons. Every “setback” has been a lesson that strengthened my determination to succeed. In these instances, it wasn’t luck that carried me through, but hard work, resilience, and faith.
In business and life, I’ve learned that timing favors the prepared. While I can’t control every factor, my focus has always been on staying committed, trusting the process, and doing the work. When opportunities do arise, I believe that the work we’ve done leading up to those moments is what makes them feel like “good timing.”
