Hidden Gems: Meet Jaslyn Bailey of Journeying Beyond Measure

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaslyn Bailey.

Jaslyn Bailey

Hi Jaslyn, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.

Thank you for this opportunity! I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Psychotherapist, Healing Coach, and owner of Journeying Beyond Measure Counseling based in Atlanta, GA. I relocated to Atlanta in 2018 to broaden my career options as a Community Therapist. This decision was one of those that I look back on and realize just how momentous it has been to my personal and professional life. It gave me the ability to work with a wide range of people in the greater Metro Atlanta area and surrounding counties which helped to foster connections with clients and understand their personal stories.

As a Community Therapist, I worked consistently to develop my skills to become a Psychotherapist at Therapy for Queer People of Color, an organization that had a profound impact on my overall growth. Being a part of such a pioneering organization and a lesbian myself, it assisted me in becoming more self-aware, boosting my confidence as well as clinical expertise to connect on a deeper level with the communities I hold dear.

With the support and encouragement of Therapy for QPOC, I started my practice; Journeying Beyond Measure in 2022. Since then, I’ve had the incredible privilege of working with clients from all over the world, offering both coaching and therapy services. By providing this type of mental and emotional support, I have been able to observe the positive transformations that unfold in my client’s lives while staying true to my core values.  I always wanted to make a positive impact in the lives of others with the guiding principles of love and compassion so I’m proud Journeying Beyond Measure provides me the daily opportunity to do just that.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?

The road to entrepreneurship has been quite the rollercoaster! I never really pictured myself as an entrepreneur, yet the autonomy that it brings has always been an attractive factor. The transition from employee to business owner has been a real eye-opener. In established companies, there’s a certain momentum and structure already in place that makes things seem a bit more straightforward. But diving headfirst into building a business from scratch, is an entirely different ballgame! I had to shift my mindset and face a steep learning curve. I taught myself how to set up and implement business processes and operational systems, create clear expectations, and establish guiding principles. And let me tell you, it wasn’t a small feat. The ups and downs were plentiful to where I’ve had moments where I stumbled and wanted to quit, and then I’ve had moments where I celebrated big victories.

Through it all though, I’ve come to realize that this journey demanded, and still demands, spiritual faith, unwavering self-belief, resilience, sheer perseverance, and a willingness to stay open to new possibilities when faced with all the challenges that come with being a business owner. It’s been a wild ride, that I wouldn’t trade for anything!

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

My clients often speak to my ability to seamlessly blend formal and informal practices and have created the label of “Positive Therapist”. My therapeutic style enables clients to process profound life events and discover the transformative potential that lies beyond mere survival.
