Today we’d like to introduce you to Jay Patterson.
Hi Jay, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Fair warning, my story may not be as interesting as the usual. Spring break 2017, Panama City Beach, a friend of mine who is also a video producer by the name of Dre Vegas, mentioned to the group how well is videography business was going. It just so happens that I had bought an action camera to capture the trip. The footage that followed turned out a lot better than expected. So I thought, “maybe this could be something more”. Two months later I purchased my first DSLR, Canon T6. Couple of weeks after than I had shot my first music video, an artist I’d worked with at McDonald’s as a teen. Also that exact same month I moved to Denton, TX to attend the University of North Texas. While I had bought my camera to strictly do video, somehow I was hired to do a birthday photoshoot for a new friend.
All throughout my college career, my work consisted on portrait photography and event recaps. Fast forward to the beginning of 2020, business is picking up. I’m starting to book more music videos, commercials, and other products in general, We all know how 2020 went after month 3. August of that same year me and my girlfriend moved to Atlanta, GA and it was time again for me to start building an empire of some sort. Slow start but I only have myself to blame for that. Then like the flip of a switch, business started booming. I finally started getting booked for the projects I actually liked to do, creatives know what I mean. I finally didn’t have to Instacart on the side to pay my bills. I’m currently still building my business and climbing up the entrepreneurship ladder. I plan to make a name for myself here. I’ll be here for a while.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I wouldn’t say it’s been a smooth road. The biggest challenges by far have been moving to a new city and building my clientele from scratch. COVID also was a huge setback and created a lot of uncertainty for the future.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Revamp Digital is a video production and marketing company based in Atlanta, GA. We aim to provide the clarity, ease of access, speed of support, and most importantly, the expertise that you deserve. Commercial and corporate videography is where we shine. We also have experience in the marketing field which is what I feel a lot of other video production companies lack. They may know how to shoot a good video, but for most, it ends there. I will not say we are a one-stop-shop or that we are for every customer because we’re not. I will say that we have studied customers’ pain points and come up with solutions to the majority of problems.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
Best, I’m a huge fan of the nature. So many trees.
Least has to be the pollen
