Today we’d like to introduce you to Jimmy Ball.
Hi Jimmy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m originally from Indiana, and I didn’t come from money or connections. One of my first real jobs was working at Little Caesars, and I used credit to buy my first camera. That camera changed everything. It gave me a way to create, learn, and start building something of my own.
I built my background working with major brands like KFC, Foot Locker, Amazon Music, Spotify, The Home Depot, and Notre Dame University. That experience taught me how to tell clear stories, grab attention, and market at a high level.
I didn’t start Purple Thread Films with a big plan. I started it because I loved storytelling and needed to turn it into a real business. In the early days, I did everything myself: filming, editing, selling, and managing clients. That’s when I learned the truth that a good video alone doesn’t grow a company. Strategy does.
As I worked with more businesses, especially personal injury law firms, I noticed a pattern. Most weren’t doing content at all, and the ones who were weren’t getting real results. They were posting, but not consistently signing cases. Marketing had changed, and content, when done right, became the fastest way to grow.
Now, I help personal injury law firms that focus on car accidents sign high-value cases using our Content-to-Cases framework. It combines short-form video, clear messaging, and paid distribution into a simple system that turns attention into leads and leads into signed cases.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all. It’s been anything but smooth. I made mistakes, undercharged, took on the wrong clients, and learned a lot of lessons the hard way.
One of the biggest struggles was shifting from being a creative to being a business owner. That meant learning systems, hiring, letting go of control, and building something that didn’t rely on me for every single decision. That part was uncomfortable and slow, but necessary.
Another challenge was focus. It took time to narrow in on who we serve best and how to actually deliver results at scale. Once I committed to a clear plan and a repeatable system, everything changed.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Purple Thread Films?
Purple Thread Films is a content and advertising agency built specifically for personal injury law firms. We help firms consistently sign high-value cases using strategic social media content and Meta ads.
We do this using our proven Content-to-Cases Framework, which turns short-form content into real business results. Instead of posting just to stay active, we build a system designed to create visibility, establish authority, and convert attention into calls and signed cases.
Because we specialize exclusively in personal injury law, we understand how trust is built online and how accident victims make decisions. That focus has helped our clients double their calls, add hundreds of thousands in revenue, and sign new motor vehicle accident cases month over month.
We are not here to chase trends or vanity metrics. We help PI firms take control of their growth with a clear, repeatable system that actually works.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something that surprises people is that I’m actually pretty introverted and not naturally comfortable on camera. Even though I work in video and marketing, being in front of the lens is still something I have to push through. I don’t love it, and I still battle with it more than people would expect.
But I’ve learned that comfort isn’t a goal. I know showing up on camera is key to my business, my brand, and the trust I want to build with clients, so I do it anyway. Discomfort is where growth actually happens.
