Today we’d like to introduce you to John Addington.
Hi John, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit — my first “business” was playing music in a band, booking our own shows, and learning how to market ourselves. That early experience taught me the power of storytelling and connecting with an audience.
Years later, I turned that same creative energy toward photography and video, getting my start working with real estate agents to showcase their listings. What began as a niche service has grown into Clay Verse Media, a full-service media and coaching company. Today, we help businesses and organizations craft their message, create compelling visuals, and build marketing strategies that actually drive results.
It’s been anything but a straight line — but every step has deepened my passion for helping people communicate with clarity and confidence so they can grow.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of my biggest struggles early on was simply believing I could do it. If I’m honest, I don’t know if I would have taken the leap on my own — but when my corporate position was eliminated, I was forced to decide what was next.
That moment became the turning point that pushed me to bet on myself. I went from wondering if I could make this work to slowly building the confidence that I could. The fear and uncertainty of that season taught me resilience, pushed me to grow as a business owner, and ultimately led me to where I am today.
We’ve been impressed with Clay Verse Media, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Clay Verse Media is a full-service media and coaching company built around one idea: clarity creates growth. We specialize in helping businesses and organizations tell their story through photography, video, and marketing strategy — so they can connect with their audience in a way that drives results.
What sets us apart is the combination of creative production and strategic coaching. We don’t just hand over a pretty video or a set of photos — we help you understand how to use them effectively. Our goal is to remove the guesswork from marketing, so you can focus on what you do best while knowing your message is clear and consistent.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud that we’ve stayed true to our mission: empowering business owners to show up with confidence. Whether it’s a launch video, a brand photo shoot, or a full marketing strategy, every project is designed to help people see what’s possible and grow their impact.
For your readers, I’d love them to know that Clay Verse Media exists to make storytelling accessible — you don’t need to be a big brand to have a clear message and powerful visuals. We believe every business has a story worth telling, and we help bring that story to life.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is helping others — and that comes directly from my faith in Jesus Christ. My Christian worldview isn’t just a part of my life; it’s the foundation for everything I do. It shapes the way I treat clients, lead my business, and serve my community.
For me, success isn’t just about profit or growth — it’s about making a positive impact and using the gifts I’ve been given to serve others. I want the work I do through Clay Verse Media to leave people better than I found them, whether that’s giving them confidence in their message, clarity in their business, or encouragement in their journey.
