Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Maddox.
Hi Joshua, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I didn’t start from anything grand, i SUCKED, but everyone has to be bad before they get good. My story and journey starts with love. The first image i drew as an adult without blatantly tracing the reference was a depiction of love, it was the first time i understood what it meant to invoke feeling through an image. This is when i decided that all of my work would have a purpose. Alot of my work is influenced from love, or rather, the love i have for things i do in my daily life. I believe everything can, and is art.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Even the straightest highways have potholes. My journey was no different. Again, I started from zero, ZILCH. Even my handwriting was terrible haha. But by persevering, even with multiple breaks, blocks, lack of motivation, i was still able to come out on the other side with improvement to show from it. Everyone’s art style is different so there’s no right or wrong road to take. I think just staying true to yourself and respecting your craft will eventually bear fruit.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about ImaJEMation?
ImaJEMation is a combination of my name and imagination. That’s what i believe my brand stands for, my imagination. I offer 3 main services, stickers, video editing, and graphic design. All of these things ive had a personal relation with. The stickers are just my art in an appeasing, high quality, and handcrafted medium. Again its personal, no mass production. Ive been editing videos from YouTube videos to professional commercials for over a decade now, im very versatile. The last service we offer is logo design and graphic design with physical prints coming to my website soon. What sets me apart from others is the love of the craft and the fact that im not always trying to pump out oversaturated, overly corporate , and overly AI marketing or products. Im most proud of how the brand has stayed true to itself since it first started in 2022. The only other thing i want the readers to know is that the stickers at least are always worth taking a look at haha that’s probably my most personal product.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Honestly growing up i was kind of the oddball, trying to find my own lane when everyone else seemed to know where they stick. My personality was always neutral, i never wanted to upset people but now i kind of just do my own thing and try to live a good life. Im interested in alot of things i will say, theres so many hobbies and so little time haha.
