Today we’d like to introduce you to Justina A Collins.
Hi Justina, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Let me start by saying, “Your pain serves a purpose and is tied to a PERSON!” My earthly days have been challenging, but I believe 2017 was a turning point for me and my family. We had no idea what would happen. On December 3, 2017, my son rode his motorcycle to Cumberland Mall to exchange a few items. I wasn’t crazy about the bike, but I prayed every time he left. Our agreement was that he would call when he arrived at any location. He did just that, but this particular day; he never made it back to the apartment. Around 12:35 pm, I started to worry. I said, “Lord, protect my baby.” I didn’t feel good in my stomach, so I called 911 and asked if someone had reported an accident between Cobb Pkwy and Delk Road. The Operator stated, “YES!” I immediately said, “THAT’S MY SON!” Upon hanging up, the hospital called and said he was in surgery. When I got to the hospital, they brought me his items.
This moment didn’t seem real. I cried and prayed and screamed and cried until I realized this was a time for God to work a miracle. The doctors came to me and said, “we don’t know which way this will go, but if you know a GOD, pray now!” That’s when things got real. I blocked out everyone and became my son’s lifeline. Around day three, the trauma doctor said, “Ms. Collins, whatever you are doing keep doing it.” I will never forget those words. They opened my heart to an area of God that I knew heard my cry. They called him a true “Miracle.” He survived brain damage, a broken leg, and ECMO; to be alive today with 90% of his movement back and functioning fine. I had to give you a summary, so you can now understand what birthed JUSTINA A COLLINS GLOBAL INC. “MINISTRY OF THE MIND”.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
On July 6th, 2018, I began experiencing fainting spells and palpations. In order to perform my duties as a Felony Probation Officer, I had to be alert and healthy. That one day turned into 25 ER and hospital visits per month. I couldn’t figure out what was going on. I decided to get a psychiatric assessment to determine whether this was a psychological disorder. I was always in good health and never had any problems. Shucks! At the age of 40, I had just completed Basic Training. That alone was challenging and difficult for me. It revealed a part of me that I didn’t know existed. On the other hand, my mental assessment found PTSD, Major Depressive Disorder, and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. This was all too much to take in. We tried numerous medications from various classifications with no success and all of the hospital visits were in vain.
On August 2019, I returned home from seeing my therapist and collapsed on the floor. I started crying and said, “God if you don’t save me now, I don’t want to live.” I had come to accept that things just may never get better for me. Right after I said those words, I heard a whisper say, “Gain composure.” If you are experiencing anxiety and depression, please don’t try and do it alone. Get help! That’s when I pulled myself together and looked up the definition of COMPOSURE. He was telling me to get my emotions under control and pull myself together.
That day aided me in getting to where I am today. I later birthed a devotional called “30 Days of Declaring God’s Word.” This book flourished as a result of the 30 days I spent seeking God and going through the process. I am now a Light University Certified Behavioral/Mental Health Coach and facilitate a Mental Moment Meetup Group with my church. One of my biggest accomplishments was holding my first in-person event in 2022 called “Hello Me.” What a time to see other women come alive and regain their identity. It is critical that we learn how to navigate our way back to life after trauma. Don’t let your past experiences keep you from achieving your PURPOSE.
If I can assist anyone with any words of advice, it would be to not give up. Trust the process!

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Rissi Carrey, my Emotional Therapist, deserves some of the credit. She showed me how to continue the healing process by undergoing a complete emotional detox. I’m relieved I did! It liberated me and those close to me from past limitations to the point where my mother recently got engaged on February 13, 2023. I will forever be eternally grateful for Rissi’s advice and mentorship.
