Hidden Gems: Meet Kasie Oliver of O5 Farms

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kasie Oliver.

Hi Kasie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My husband, Jason, and I were married in 2015, which was the year we established O5 Farms. Our name is a result of our last names beginning with the letter “O” and there are five of us, including our three kids. Being a blended family, it was important to us that the kids felt included and a part of the farm, as well.

Jason had already planted 100 blueberry bushes before I arrived so they were good and established. We have added an additional 150 over the years, as well as raspberries and blackberries. Each year it seems that we add something new as we strive to become a little more efficient and effective. Two years ago, we added a refreshment stand, where we sell shaved ice, cotton candy, popcorn, hot dogs, and cold drinks during blueberry season. Last year, we planted a field of sunflowers which led to becoming a year-round photography venue. This year, we added the produce wagon, which provided locals with fresh produce all summer. We have more ideas, like movies with goats, picnics with goats, etc., there just doesn’t seem to be enough hours in the day for everything we want to do! We also have a 4 bedroom, 1 bath livable barn space on the farm, called the Rustic Retreat, that we rent out on Airbnb and VRBO to those who want a more intimate farm experience.

We enjoy doing what we do here on the farm, and as anyone who runs a farm knows, it is definitely a labor of love. We listen to our loyal O5 Farm friends and will keep on keeping on until we hear otherwise! I don’t, however, anticipate that visiting with farm animals or picking your own chemical-free blueberries will go out of style anytime soon!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Mother Nature always keeps us on our toes with our blueberry crop from year to year. Blueberries are fairly hearty plants, but a late frost can really negatively impact the production.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are open year-round for photography and offer seasonal setups as well as natural farm settings. We welcome amateurs as well as professionals.

The Rustic Retreat is a 4 bed/1 bath barndominium located on the farm and is available for rent on Airbnb and VRBO. Come to the country for the weekend or for an extended stay and enjoy the animals on a relaxing, peaceful farm setting.

O5 Farms is open for blueberry picking and fresh, seasonal produce every summer from mid-June to mid-July. We have animals that you can feed, as well as refreshments for yourself!
