Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Beadles.
Hi Kim, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
BeaTailored was founded in 2020 at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic — a season marked by uncertainty, transition, and reflection. Prior to launching the brand, I worked in various challenging traditional working environments, always driven by one priority: providing stability and security for my daughter.
During those traditional working years, I had the opportunity to work closely with fellow small business entrepreneurs. Observing their independence, creativity, and ownership planted a vision in me. I began to see entrepreneurship not just as an alternative path, but as a vehicle for freedom and long term legacy. I didn’t simply want employment — I wanted equity. I wanted to build something that could create generational wealth.
Launching BeaTailored without a formal foundation during an already stressful global crisis was a challenge in itself. I was self-taught in every sense —learning design, branding, production, and business structure through research, experimentation, and resilience. What began as custom t-shirts and hoodies — original designs and branding pieces for clients — steadily evolved into something more intentional and purpose-driven.
As the business gained momentum, my family faced significant health challenges that required my full presence. During a time when growth often demands acceleration, I made the conscious decision to slow down and step back. That season reshaped my understanding of success. Balancing caregiving, motherhood, and entrepreneurship required strength I didn’t know I had, but it ultimately refined both my vision and my values.
Rather than weakening the foundation of BeaTailored, that period strengthened it. It reinforced my commitment to building sustainably, leading with intention, and creating something meaningful — not just profitable.
Over the past several years BeaTailored has grown through resilience, creativity, and authentic connections with clients.
Today, I am in a season of renewed focus — refining the brand, elevating quality, and building with even greater clarity and purpose than when I first began.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest challenges has been building this business without a clear blueprint. I didn’t have formal training or a mentor walking me through the steps — I had to figure things out as I went. From pricing and production to branding and client communication, everything was learned through research, mistakes, adjustments, and persistence.
On the business side, learning structure was a major growth point for me. In the beginning, I felt like I had to say yes to every opportunity. Over time, I realized that being busy isn’t the same as being strategic. I had to learn how to set boundaries, refine my process, and build systems that support long-term growth instead of short-term wins.
Mentally, entrepreneurship has stretched me in ways I didn’t expect. There have been moments of self-doubt, comparison, and questioning whether I was doing enough or moving fast enough. But I’ve learned that confidence is built, not given. Every challenge has strengthened my discipline and reminded me why I started in the first place.
Looking back, those challenges didn’t stop me —they sharpened me. They’ve shaped me into a more intentional, focused, and resilient business owner.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
BeaTailored is a custom apparel and branding business dedicated to creating pieces that feel both personal and meaningful. I specialize in designing custom t-shirts, hoodies, and branded apparel for individuals, small businesses, and organizations who want their clothing to represent their identity, message, or brand.
At BeaTailored, the focus is not just on producing apparel but on creating something intentional. Every design is approached with care, creativity, and attention to detail so that each piece feels unique to the person or business it represents.
Clients often come to BeaTailored with an idea, a vision, or even just a feeling they want their apparel to express. I enjoy helping bring those ideas to life and turning them into something tangible that people can wear, share, and be proud of.
As the business continues to grow, my goal is to keep building a brand known for thoughtful designs, quality work, and a genuine connection with the people I create for.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
I would tell anyone starting out to trust their vision, even if it feels unclear in the beginning. You don’t have to have everything figured out before you start. Growth comes from movement.
I also believe it’s important to stay consistent, especially during seasons of uncertainty or transition. There will be moments when things feel slow or discouraging, but consistency builds confidence and clarity over time.
Most importantly, don’t compare your journey to someone else’s timeline. Focus on building something that aligns with your purpose and values. Success isn’t just about speed — it’s about sustainability and impact.
