Hidden Gems: Meet Kingdom Tattoo of Kingdom Tattoo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kingdom Tattoo.

Hi Kingdom, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Kingdom Tattoo was established in 2012 by the now retired Ryan Weaver, who built the shop on simple principles: good art, good people, and giving back to the community that supports us. Over the years, the shop has grown, changed hands, and welcomed new artists, but those core values have stayed the same.

As a team, we’re always looking for ways to use our creativity and our platform to do something meaningful in Decatur, not just as tattooers, but as neighbors. That’s what inspired us to launch our food drive this December.

All month long, we’re trading ink for food. Bring in unopened, unexpired food items (see the list in our pinned post on Instagram!) and get discounts on your tattoo:

Half grocery bag (8+ items): $50 off tattoos $200+

Full grocery bag (12–15 items): $100 off tattoos $400+

Overflowing or large bag (18+ items): $150 off tattoos $600+

Every donation = 1 entry into a raffle for either:

a free tiny tattoo or

$50 in shop credit

Kingdom will match the first $1000 worth of donations.

Let’s make something cool together while helping our neighbors eat this winter.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like any small business, Kingdom has had its share of transitions and growing pains. Ownership changes, the fast pace of the tattoo industry, and the challenges of maintaining a creative workspace can all be difficult to navigate. But each shift has ultimately pushed us tor grow and evolve, support each other more, and staying grounded in what matters: providing a welcoming space and making good art. Every challenge is an opportunity to rebuild stronger.

We’ve been impressed with Kingdom Tattoo, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Kingdom Tattoo has been a part of the Decatur community for over a decade. Our artists each bring their own style and expertise, but we’re united by a shared love of good art. We cover a range of styles, including: American Traditional, Neo Traditional, blackwork, fine line, illustrative, anime-inspired, and permanent makeup.

We specialize in custom tattoos but we also take walk-ins every day. Our artists genuinely care about client comfort, clear communication, and long-term results. People come back because they feel taken care of.

What were you like growing up?
We’re the kind of shop where the art is taken seriously, but the artists don’t take themselves too seriously. We’re professional, but we’re also human and we want people to enjoy being here, to feel comfortable asking questions, and to walk out with something that will look good for years.
