Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Cooper.
Hi Lauren, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my business, Marry Me Atlanta, on February 14th, 2024 — Valentine’s Day of all days. Funny thing is, I didn’t plan that. It just happened that way, which honestly feels like fate, considering what I do.
I can’t even say there was one single reason I decided to become an officiant. It wasn’t something I had dreamed about or even thought much of before — I just knew it was an untapped space, and something about it pulled me in. Now it’s truly become a passion of mine.
The idea came to me at one of the lowest points in my life. My divorce had just been finalized three weeks earlier. I was depressed, crying every day, and one night I found myself scrolling through Instagram watching marriage proposals. I started thinking about my own marriage — and the wedding I didn’t have — and then the thought hit me: how convenient would it be if people could just call someone the day of to marry them or get their license signed? No stress, no huge production, no traditions — just love, commitment, and a moment that’s meaningful to them.
And just like that, Marry Me Atlanta was born — a mobile officiant service where I go wherever the couple is most comfortable, whether that’s their living room, a park, or a Starbucks.
Since launching, I’ve married 16 couples — and every ceremony reminds me why I started. Spring and fall are my busiest seasons, and even though my business is only about a year and a half old, I’ve poured my heart into every detail. From filing the paperwork and building my website, to creating my (admittedly “bootleg”) commercial — it’s all me.
I’m proud of what I’ve built, proud of how far I’ve come, and excited for everything that’s still ahead.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Whew… smooth? Let’s just say it’s been a beautifully bumpy ride! Like most business owners, I had a clear vision of what I wanted to do — that part came easy. But turning my ideas into reality? Whole different story.
Getting my business established was smooth enough, but marketing… now that’s been the real challenge! I knew what I wanted to say, but figuring out how to say it and where to say it took some serious trial and error. Building a website, setting up payments, creating a booking system (still working on that one, by the way!) — it’s been a process.
I haven’t even touched social media yet, but I’ve been blessed to get consistent work through Google and Yelp. And just know — the marketing plan I’m cooking up? It’s going to be bomb! You’ll definitely be seeing a lot more of me soon. Everyone’s gonna know about Marry Me Atlanta!
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Marry Me Atlanta?
Marry Me Atlanta is my baby! I’m a mobile wedding officiant, which basically means I bring the “I do” to you. Whether it’s a big wedding, a cozy backyard ceremony, or just a quick license signing — I make it special, simple, and stress-free.
I specialize in keeping things real. Every couple’s vibe is different, and I love creating ceremonies that feel personal and true to them. No cookie-cutter vows over here — unless that’s what you want, of course!
What really sets me apart is how much I care about the experience. I’m not just showing up to sign paperwork — I’m showing up to celebrate love, laugh with you, calm your nerves, and make sure your moment feels perfect.
So far, my business has grown from pure word-of-mouth, Google, and Yelp searches — which honestly means the world to me. People are finding me, loving the experience, and telling others. That’s the best kind of marketing there is.
I’m super proud of how far I’ve come, and trust me — I’m just getting started. Whether you want something romantic, funny, or straight to the point, I’m your girl. Whether it is a ceremony, quick vow exchange, or a simple signing and you go on about your day, my goal is to make your day YOURS — full of love, laughter, and a little bit of magic.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Hmmmmm, that’s a good question. Lol, “not gonna lie”, Honestly, I listen to Tonight’s Conversation podcast— they keep it real about relationships in a way that’s funny but also makes you think. I love Kitty Rose and Trip Fontaine too; they have this raw, unfiltered take on love and accountability that I respect.
I’m in a few marriage and relationship groups on Facebook (some of those convos could be their own reality show).
I’m also, a bit of a self-improvement junkie. I listen to John Hope Bryant when I need that dose of financial and motivational wisdom. I also love Mogul Lifestyle, Motion and Success, and The Unapologetic Guide to Black Mental Health — because let’s be honest, healing and growing while being Black in America hits a little different.
And of course, I can’t forget my budget workbooks — those keep me humble — and therapy, which keeps me sane. Between all of that, I’d say I’m constantly learning, evolving, and trying to become the best version of myself — in business, relationships, and life.
