Inspired by her grandparents’ love for farming, Makayla always envisioned a life where animals and entrepreneurship would intertwine. That dream began to take shape when she met her husband, Michael, in her late teens. Together, they laid the foundation for a future rooted in care and community.
At just 18, Makayla began working at a veterinary clinic, gaining hands-on experience and building trust with pet owners through in-home and on-site petsitting. By 19, she and Michael had purchased 12 acres in Covington, Georgia—land that would soon become Frechette Farmstead. With their three beloved dogs, Jaxx, Jessi, and Boone, they began crafting a space where pets could feel safe, loved, and at home.
In 2017, Makayla pursued a business degree to sharpen her entrepreneurial edge. Two years later, she embraced motherhood with the birth of their son, Henry, and later welcomed their daughter, Caroline. Choosing to stay home with her children became the catalyst for launching her lifelong dream. In 2024, she opened her licensed boarding facility, and Frechette Farmstead has since blossomed into a multi-service pet care business with a growing footprint across Georgia.

There have certainly been moments that felt like bad luck: setbacks in funding, juggling two young children while launching a business, and the unpredictable challenges that come with caring for animals and running a farm. There were days when things broke down—literally and figuratively—and when the dream felt distant.
But Makayla doesn’t see luck as random. She believes every challenge was placed in her path for a reason. Her faith reminds her that what may seem like bad luck is often a setup for growth, resilience, and redirection. And the good luck? She sees that as grace—like finding the perfect property at just the right time, meeting clients who became lifelong supporters, and watching her vision come to life in ways she never imagined.
