Hidden Gems: Meet Meiyanna Cheek of Mission M-Pact

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meiyanna Cheek.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
As a community-centered mom who has always been fueled by pouring into youth and passionate about education as a whole, Mission M-Pact began long before I ever officially answered the call during the pandemic and the virtual learning mandate.
My journey started at home, where I became my son’s first teacher. From an early age, I intentionally nurtured his love for learning through creativity, structure, and consistency. As he grew academically, others began to take notice—not only of his success, but of my natural ability to teach, motivate, and connect with children in meaningful ways. What began as motherhood soon revealed itself as purpose.

In 2020, when virtual learning became mandatory, many families in my community were overwhelmed and unsure how to support their children academically. Students were falling behind, parents were stretched thin, and educational gaps were widening. Seeing this need firsthand, I stepped in to provide guidance, structure, and support. That moment became the official beginning of Mission M-Pact.
Mission M-Pact was created to be more than a tutoring service—it is a movement rooted in empowerment, accountability, and transformation. Guided by our slogan, M-Pact. M-Power. M-Prove., we are committed to making real impact, empowering students to believe in themselves, and proving that success is possible with the right support.

With my background in behavioral health and youth development, I approach education holistically. We focus not only on academic performance, but also on mindset, confidence, discipline, and emotional wellness. Every student is seen, supported, and challenged to reach their fullest potential.

Looking ahead, my vision for Mission M-Pact extends far beyond tutoring. I see it evolving into a true all-in-one community empowerment center—a place where families can grow, heal, and thrive together. In the near future, Mission M-Pact will offer family counseling and mental wellness support, job placement services, and small business suites that provide real-world apprenticeships for youth who have graduated through our program.I am also committed to creating intentional spaces for neurodivergent learners to feel seen, supported, and celebrated, while also expanding access to personalized academic and behavioral resources.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a completely smooth road—and honestly, that’s been the biggest part of the growth. Learning how to market my vision effectively, consistently create relavant content for social media, and making sure it reaches the right people is still an on- going learning process.
Securing funding and resources has also been a major hurdle, especially when you’re building something rooted in community impact rather than quick profit.
Finding and maintaining a physical space, along with reliable transportation, added another layer of complexity. As we’re currently undergoing a transional period, there are moments when the logistics feel heavier than the dream itself.

Nevertheless, I’m a proud advocate for heart-work even when it takes a little hard work to make things shake! One of the biggest lessons learned along this journey is to trust the process. I won’t let the struggles stop me. Instead, I let them M-Pact, M-Power, and M-Prove me as I lead by example.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Mission M-Pact?
Mission M-Pact seeks to give educators that care a place to be seen heard and valued, because Mission M-Pact looks to address more than just academic success.

Mission M-Pact is unique because we learn the children while teaching and also developing meaningful relationships with their families

Mission M-Pact seeks to bring community back to education in a way that feels good…like home outside of home..

How? By offering 1:1 and small group tutoring/,mentoring and equipping parents with tools to use before, during, and after sessions.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Although, I’m not typically a huge risk taker, I will say this……I do forsee betting on myself and my vision and fully leaning into my role as an M-Pact Cultivator and business owner officially retiring from being an employee.
