Hi Mickia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Who doesn’t want additional income? Let me answer that for you. NO ONE. I can attest that I wanted more money. I work full-time, I am a wife, and I am a full-time graduate student. One may ask, where would one find the time? To be fair, that is the same question that I asked myself; however, I knew that I wanted MORE. So, with that thought in mind, I got to work and started doing my research. INTERNET MONEY WAS THE GOAL! I mean, I really dug my head into all that I could possibly do. Lo and behold, I stumbled upon virtual assistance. It was perfect. The startup cost was low, and the gain was limitless. It all depended on one factor. ME. In December 2021, I made my first virtual assistance logo (a small but manifesting step). In May 2022, I landed my first client. It was official. The Jolley Shift was born.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Entrepreneurship is not an easy journey for anyone. I landed my first client in May 2022 by offering a free trial for my services. After I received my first five-star review from that client, my business literally BOOMED! I received inquiries from all over the place. The Jolley Shift was forming an identity of its own and I was ecstatic. Then, I started my internship with graduate school and my time became extremely limited. Ultimately, things began to slow down because I was not readily available as I once was for potential clients. Was it my ideal situation? Absolutely not. Did I quit pushing my business? Well, if I am being honest, I definitely took my feet off of the gas. However, I still craved the freedom that entrepreneurship could provide. I got a taste of what was possible and I wanted MORE! So this year, I focused on improving my skills and sharpening my offers so that I could really make The Jolley Shift larger than life.

The Jolley Shift LLC. was a business to help businesses. The idea was to be the one-stop virtual shop to help brands run their businesses more efficiently. We typically work with female entrepreneurs from diverse industries to handle backend tasks to support their businesses. We specialize in administrative support, graphic design, email management, scheduling, SMS/email marketing, copywriting, social media management, customer service, website design and maintenance, digital products, and more. The Jolley Shift’s only focus is to ensure that our client’s goals are not only met but exceeded by the services that are rendered. I am proud that I have had the opportunity to work with so many incredibly successful entrepreneurs. I am even more proud that The Jolley Shift has been mentioned and introduced in rooms that I could have never imagined. The Jolley Shift is here to help as many entrepreneurs as we can. What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
It’s free to be nice. It costs nothing to be kind and your kindness makes way more room for you than credibility ever could. I have had the pleasure to meet most of my clients through referrals from other clients. One of the key factors is a direct result of my genuine kindness shown to previous clients. It is important to remember that your character defines the perspective people will have toward your business. How can I be anything other than kind with “Jolley” as my last name?
