Hi Modupe, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been a candle lover but never thought I would be a candle maker.
My love for fragrance came from my mother. She migrated from Nigeria when she was only 19. I remember how sweet and sophisticated the room would smell anytime she would get ready to leave the house. Whether it was getting ready for work or an outing, she would spray every article of clothing from her socks. To her undergarments (even her wig).
What actually sparked my interest of making candles was a conversation with my best friend. She has a cake business and I asked her “why don’t you make dessert candles?” She stated she would love to but was just too busy to make them. We came up with a plan that if I learned how to make it we would go half on the candle business. She always encouraged me to pursue my own brand but I was honestly too nervous and told her we should stick with the partnership.
As I was learning how to make candles, from going to classes, watching videos and practicing for over a year and a half I fell in love with it. My own vision had now sparked for what I wanted it to be. I no longer wanted to limit to a partnership. My friend understood and respected my decision. I never thought of myself as a creative person prior to this journey. But now I have an abundance of ideas!
I’ve only been in business for 3 months but I’m excited at where my business is going. In such a short time I was able to get into a local Atlanta boutique, and have plans to have wholesale options. This is just the beginning!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s Been an interesting journey becoming an entrepreneur. It gets lonely and overwhelming sometimes. You wear so many hats! You becoming a walking brand and have to put thought into every decision you make. But it’s fulfilling. The reviews that I get, the way I make people feel is worth it!
I spent a lot starting this business and even has to borrow from a friend. But in my first month of sales, I was able to pay them back with interest.

I believe when you smell good, you look good and, you feel good. My products stimulate your limbic system. That part of the brain is home to our memory & emotions. My candles are intended to give a sense of comfort. There’s an art to candle burning. My intent is to give the most luxurious candle experience with our candle care kit which will
help with getting the maximum use of your candle. Not only do my candles smell great it is perfect for any home’s décor. My jars are reusable that way you still enjoy even after the candle is burnt.
