Today we’d like to introduce you to Nely Castrejon
Hi Nely, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My passion developed through a lot of trial and error in figuring out my path in life. I always knew I wanted to help people, so I pursued a nursing degree. Unfortunately, during my studies, my mother was diagnosed with cancer, and I soon realized I didn’t want to work in a hospital anymore. Unsure of my next steps but determined to help others, I discovered a love for eyebrows. I began teaching myself new techniques and decided to pursue my master cosmetology license.
While studying at Toni and Guy, I explored various services and quickly fell in love with hair. After graduating, I worked at a salon that prioritized continuing education, where I learned immensely from colleagues I still admire today. I spent three years there until 2020.
Encouraged by my husband, I took the leap to open my own business, “A Touch of Flores Salon.” The challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic made it difficult to attract clients and ensure they felt comfortable in my chair. However, gradually, my clients began to trust me more with each visit.
I cherish forming personal relationships with my clientele, often telling them that our time together feels like a therapy session. In many ways, I am fulfilling my original goal: helping people feel beautiful and being there to listen. It’s been four years since I started my business, and my journey continues.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I encountered many challenges along the way, with COVID-19 being one of the most significant. Another hurdle was learning how to be my own boss. There were times when I felt like giving up and starting over, but fortunately, I have an ambitious husband, and my loving clients who encouraged me to pursue my dreams.

The name of my company is inspired by my maiden name, Flores. I specialize in a variety of coloring techniques, including balayages, highlights, vivid colors, low-maintenance options, keratin treatments, hydration and repairing masks, haircuts, and eyebrow design.
I also provide hair and makeup services for weddings, quinceañeras, and other special events. What sets me apart is my commitment to listening to your needs while also providing honest advice about what’s possible. The integrity of your hair is always my top priority.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love the diverse culture in our city. The mix of music, art, and food is one of my favorite aspects. I also enjoy supporting our favorite sports teams, like Atlanta United, the Braves, Atlanta Hawks and Atlanta Falcons. The only thing I like least about my city is the amount of traffic and humidity.
