Today we’d like to introduce you to Nichole Cook.
Hi Nichole, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey into studio ownership is rooted in passion, friendship, and family. I didn’t always dream of owning a dance studio, but I always believed in the power of dance to shape young lives—especially after watching my own daughter fall in love with it.
I was already deeply involved in the studio world when one of my best friends and business partners—someone I deeply admire—made the difficult but beautiful decision to step back and focus on her family. She had poured her heart into the studio and paved the way for everything it had become. When she passed the torch, I felt incredibly honored to carry it forward, building on the foundation she laid with so much love and intention.
From there, I stepped fully into the role of studio owner, determined to create a space where dancers of all ages feel supported, challenged, and celebrated. I wear several hats at the studio, still today — receptionist, teacher, scheduler, cleaner—but every role continues to shape the studio culture we have today: one built on community, kindness, and clear communication.
Now, with two locations—our original studio and our new space coming to Bremen in August 2025 — I can honestly say this journey has been more than just a career. It’s been a calling. And it all started with one little girl in a leotard, a best friend who believed in me, and a vision to make a difference through dance.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Has it Been a Smooth Road?
The short answer? Not always.
Taking over the studio from someone who was not only a business partner but one of my best friends was both an honor and a challenge. She had such a vibrant personality, and the studio reflected every bit of who she was—her heart, her style, her presence. When it was time to pass the torch, I knew I wanted to continue the legacy she worked so hard to build, but I also knew I couldn’t simply try to fill her shoes. I had to find my own.
That’s probably been the biggest struggle—discovering my identity within a space that was already so loved and established. I had to learn, sometimes quickly, how to lead in my own way. I had to grow into the role, trust my instincts, and make decisions that aligned with my vision, while still honoring the path that had already been laid.
It took time, patience, and a lot of reflection, but over the years I’ve learned how to blend legacy with growth. Now, the studio feels like a true reflection of both our hearts—what she built, and what I continue to build every day. And that journey, though not always smooth, has been so worth it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
About West Georgia Dance Center
At West Georgia Dance Center, we’re more than just a dance studio—we’re a place where dancers grow not just in their technique, but in confidence, character, and community.
We specialize in quality dance education for children and teens, offering classes in ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, hip hop, acro, and more. Whether a child is just starting out at age 18-months or training seriously on our competitive teams, our mission is the same: to inspire, nurture, and empower.
What sets us apart is our heart. We’re known for our family atmosphere, our intentional communication, and our commitment to developing not just great dancers—but great humans. We don’t just teach steps. We teach life lessons through discipline, encouragement, creativity, and consistency. We make it a priority to create a positive, uplifting environment where every dancer feels seen and supported, no matter their level or goals.
One of the things I’m most proud of, brand-wise, is our culture. We’ve built something really special—a place where kids feel safe to express themselves, where parents feel confident and informed, and where our staff is just as invested in each dancer’s journey as their own family is.
With two studio locations now—our original and our brand-new space in Bremen—we’re excited to serve even more families while staying true to our values. Whether your child dreams of dancing professionally or just wants to make new friends and dance it out once a week, we have a place for them at WGDC.
Above all, I want readers to know that when you join our studio, you’re not just signing up for dance classes. You’re joining a community that truly cares about your child’s growth—on and off the stage.
How do you think about luck?
To be honest, I don’t really believe in “luck.” As a woman of faith, I truly believe that every step of my journey has been guided by God. The people He’s placed in my life, the opportunities that have opened up, and even the challenges I’ve faced—none of it has been by chance. It’s all been part of a bigger plan that He’s been orchestrating from the beginning.
When I look back, I see God’s hand in all of it. From the friendship that led me to the studio, to the timing of stepping into ownership, to the families and staff who have walked alongside me—I believe He paved the way. Even in the hard seasons, when things felt uncertain or overwhelming, He was there teaching me, strengthening me, and preparing me for the next step.
So no, I wouldn’t say I’ve had good or bad luck. I’ve had grace. I’ve had blessings. And I’ve had growth that came from leaning on Him and trusting His plan, even when I didn’t know what was coming next.
Every part of my business, from the culture we’ve created to the way we serve our dancers and families, is built on that foundation of faith, purpose, and love. And I’m so grateful to get to do what I do, knowing it’s exactly where He’s called me to be.
