Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Gunn.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey to entrepreneurship began nearly 10 years ago while working at a news station in my hometown of Columbus, Georgia. It was my first job in the news broadcasting industry after graduating with my bachelor’s in communications. During my senior year and also while working in news, I developed more of an interest in the public relations field, plus I was actually good at it!
I would provide PR help to some of my friends and associates, most times at no charge because I thought of it as doing them a favor. And I had made several connections in the media industry, so it made the job easier. I enjoyed it! But eventually, the demand for my “help” began to grow. I then realized that I was actually providing legitimate services. I had a business! So, Olivia Gunn PR & Communications was birthed in 2019 which provides a range of communications services to small businesses, organizations, and artists.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. When I decided to launch Olivia Gunn PR & Communications, I had to step out of my comfort zone and market and brand myself as a business owner. This meant that some of the people I once provided services to as a favor now had to actually pay for my services, and some weren’t willing to do so. Also, starting out, the clients weren’t quick to come. So, many times, I was faced with being a new business owner with no clients.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Olivia Gunn PR & Communications makes communication easy. We offer a wide range of services to help small businesses and organizations spread their brand’s message to the masses, earn publicity, and ultimately reach the maximum exposure, all while keeping their brand in a positive light. What sets Olivia Gunn PR & Communications apart from other agencies is the fact that every service revolves around communications. We stand on the motto that “communication is key.”
I’m most proud of the results that clients have received. Every client has been able to have their brand reach large audiences that they otherwise may not have been able to reach.
