Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrick O’Shea.
Hi Patrick, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My love for fashion really started with my father. Not because he worked in the industry, but because of how he approached life — with care, pride, and attention to detail.
When I was born, he treated himself to something meaningful: a personalized license plate. It carried his initials and the age he was when I was born, and at the time, that kind of thing wasn’t common or inexpensive. That plate followed him from car to car over the years and quietly became part of our family story.
That plate—and what it came to represent—became SPO 33. Today, that same idea—something personal, built to last—shapes how we work with every client.
Growing up, I was also deeply drawn to cars — the engineering, the construction, the way every detail had a purpose. Later, when I found my way into fashion, I realized I was responding to the same things: structure, balance, materials, and the details you may not immediately notice, but always feel.
Just as important was what I learned from watching my father deal with people. He treated everyone the same, listened carefully, and genuinely tried to understand what someone needed rather than telling them what they should want. That approach shaped how I think about service and relationships.
That foundation carried me through my training in London — from No. 1 Savile Row to my time at Harrods — where craftsmanship, discipline, and service are taken seriously. Later, moving to the U.S.—and particularly to Atlanta—added another layer. It gave me a real understanding of how people here live, dress, and engage with clothing on a daily basis. Atlanta also reinforced something I care deeply about—hospitality. The experience should feel relaxed, personal, and welcoming.
SPO 33 is the result of all of that. It isn’t about names or ego. It’s about creating something personal, considered, and lasting — rooted in craftsmanship, but designed for modern life.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road.
One of the most challenging periods came when I moved to the U.S. It wasn’t just a professional change — it was a complete life shift. I had a new baby, a new relationship, a new country, a new city, and a new home, all at once. I left my family and friends behind and had to start again in many ways.
Professionally, I was adapting to a different way of working — with clients, with colleagues, and within the broader culture of the industry. I found myself looking for mentorship in a new environment, which is never easy for anyone, especially while trying to find your footing at the same time.
That period of adjustment led me to explore different paths, but there was always one underlying constant. I missed the direct relationship with clients. I missed clothing — the process, the detail, the conversations, and the satisfaction of building something tangible for someone.
During that time, the steady support of my family played a crucial role. Their belief in me gave me the confidence to keep going, to stay grounded, and to trust that clarity would come, even when the path wasn’t obvious.
Like many people, the period around COVID pushed me into work outside of clothing and retail. While those experiences were valuable, they only reinforced what I already knew — that craftsmanship, personal service, and working directly with people were what truly motivated me.
That clarity is what led me to begin bringing SPO 33 to life. It wasn’t a reaction to a single experience or challenge, but the result of reflection, timing, and a desire to build something aligned with my values.
Looking back, the challenges didn’t hold the journey back — they shaped it. They sharpened my perspective, strengthened my resolve, and ultimately defined what SPO 33 stands for today.
As you know, we’re big fans of SPO 33 . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
SPO 33 is a modern tailoring and lifestyle brand built around one simple idea: clothing should fit into how people actually live.
At our core, we specialize in made-to-measure tailoring for men and women, using exceptional fabrics from some of the finest mills in Italy and England. But what we really focus on is the experience — the relationship with the client, the attention to detail, and the feeling that nothing is rushed or generic.
What sets SPO 33 apart is restraint and intention. We don’t chase trends, and we don’t overcomplicate things. Every design choice — from construction to fabric to finishing — is made with purpose. We curate confidently, reduce decision fatigue, and build pieces that are meant to last, both physically and stylistically.
We’re also very conscious of lifestyle. Our clients aren’t dressing for a single moment; they’re dressing for work, family, travel, and everyday life. That understanding shapes everything we do, whether it’s a tailored jacket, trousers, a suit, or refined essentials.
From a practical standpoint, we’ve built our process to be both considered and efficient. Made-to-measure garments are typically delivered in around three weeks using our stock fabric program, and four to five weeks for cut-length selections — allowing clients to enjoy craftsmanship without unnecessary delay.
Alongside made-to-measure, we also offer a carefully curated ready-to-wear collection and entry-level suiting. These pieces follow the same principles as our tailoring — quality materials, thoughtful design, and ease of wear — giving clients accessible options without compromising standards.
Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is integrity. SPO 33 has been built carefully and deliberately, without shortcuts. The brand reflects my own values — craftsmanship, consistency, hospitality, and respect for the client — and that comes through in how we work, not just in what we produce.
Ultimately, I want people to know that SPO 33 isn’t about intimidation or excess. It’s about considered luxury — personal, thoughtful, and approachable. We’re here to help people feel confident in what they wear and comfortable in the experience of tailoring.
That’s what Tailoring Your Lifestyle truly means to us.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as alignment.
Success is when the way you work, the decisions you make, and the life you’re building all move in the same direction. When you’re not cutting corners to get there, and you’re not compromising your values to keep up.
On a practical level, success means earning trust — from clients, from partners, and from the people you work alongside. It’s seeing clients return not because they need something new, but because they value the relationship — a place clients return to over years, not seasons.
Brand-wise, success is building something that lasts. Not something loud or fast, but something considered, consistent, and resilient over time.
And personally, success is being present — for my family, for my work, and for the moments in between — while doing something I genuinely care about.
If I can continue to build with integrity, stay close to the client, and be proud of the work we put into the world, that feels like success to me.
