Hidden Gems: Meet Pilar Alzate of Aura Wellness of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pilar Alzate.

Hi Pilar, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I began my spiritual journey more than ten years ago. It started very quietly and slowly—one yoga class here and there, a spiritual podcast playing in the car on my way to work, and the occasional meditation once a week. Although something about spirituality was deeply calling me, my mind couldn’t fully understand why or what it meant yet.

Looking back today, I realize that I was collecting tools, experiences, and perspectives through different stages of life so I could eventually understand my true purpose.

Over the years, I explored many spiritual practices and healing modalities, including Kundalini yoga, Ayahuasca, Kambo, Reiki, Akashic Records, Temazcal ceremonies, cacao ceremonies, psilocybin, and even traditional psychological therapy. Each experience offered valuable insight, but I still felt that something was missing.

The truth is after over ten years of experience in the IT industry as a Customer Succes Manager and other sales related roles, I was burntout. The corporae world sometimes come with a heavy weight as it requieres to mange high stress continuously and that, in my case, led me to have health problems as well as being mentally overwhelm.

I have always known that my path involved being of service to others. However, it was equally important for me to connect spirituality with a science-based approach. That missing piece finally appeared when I discovered neuromeditation.

The first time I experienced neuromeditation was while I was living in Lisbon, Portugal. I immediately felt a profound connection with my subconscious mind. The experience was powerful and transformative, and I could instantly see the potential this technique has to help people evolve into better versions of themselves. By connecting with the subconscious mind—where our most authentic self resides—people can regulate and reset their nervous systems in ways that are deeply personal and empowering.

No therapist, friend, or family member will ever know you better than you know yourself. In that sense, neuromeditation becomes a form of self-guided therapy where the therapist is your own mind, heart, and soul.

From the moment I first experienced neuromeditation, I began planning my return home to Atlanta. I developed a business plan and dedicated myself to studying every day—diving deeply into neuroscience, neuroplasticity, the complexity of the brain, and how neuromodulation technologies can help transform the mind.

In August 2025, just one week after returning to Atlanta, I found the space that would become Aura Wellness of Atlanta. Interestingly, it looked exactly like the place I had envisioned during my neuromeditation sessions. Seeing that vision become reality felt like a powerful confirmation of the mind’s creative potential.

Today, Aura Wellness of Atlanta is the city’s first neuromeditation studio. Our approach integrates technology and holistic practices to help people regulate their nervous systems and restore balance between mind and body.

The process begins with lymphatic activation to help oxygenate the blood and support detoxification. We then use near-infrared light therapy on the head and abdomen to support gut–brain coherence, recognizing the important role the gut plays in producing neurotransmitters like serotonin, often associated with feelings of happiness and emotional balance.

Next, we guide clients through the 4-7-8 breathing technique to calm and regulate the nervous system, preparing the body and mind for neuromeditation using specialized neuromodulation devices.

Finally, I help clients integrate their experience. During meditation, the mind often reveals messages from the subconscious—the part of the mind that represents about 95% of our mental activity. Learning to listen to those messages can be deeply transformative and empowering.

For me, Aura Wellness of Atlanta is more than a studio. It is the physical manifestation of a vision born through inner work, science, and the belief that when we learn to understand our minds, we gain the power to transform our lives.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There has been many challenges along the way, the first one that comes to my mind, which is also the biggest one, is the fact that Neuromeditation is something completely new in Atlanta and pretty much in the US compared to Europe. I have the mission to evangelize people, explain about the mind adn how the brain works in order for people to understand how neuromodulation practices induces your brain in deep states of consiousness in matter of minutes, and how from there you can navigate your subconsious mind to observe your toughts, identify patters, and most importantly retraind your brain for an specific goal such a stress relief, ease of anxiety, control insomnia, help with deppresion and so on. Other challenges are the typical ones for an entrepeneur, like building a solid client base, get funding and managing all the operations on your own. There is a tremendous ammount of work that sometimes is not visible to the public.

As you know, we’re big fans of Aura Wellness of Atlanta. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Aura Wellness of Atlanta has come to life as an alternative for people to release, navigate their lives in harmony, find a way to get to know themselves better as 95% of the mind is subconsious, what basically means that we are running on autopilot day by day. The brain learns through repetition, thats the beauty of neuroplasticity so here at Aura we have different programs for people to regulate stress, sharpen their focus, become more productive, let the creativity flow with ease, find clarity, connect with their intuition, improve motivation, find the authentic self that is behind the masks we have built through the years and the conditioning the society imprint on us. Depending on the specific goal of the neuro meditator, our neuromodulation devices provide the brain entraintent needed. The mind speaks but most of the times we dont listen to it.

What makes you happy?
It makes me inmensenly happy to connect with others, to touch their hearts, to make people feel they are being seen and heard. That’s the main reason why I wake up everyday. If I can help a person to find peace, mu purpose is fullfilled. i strongly believe in energy, vibration and frequency so maintaining mine stable is the way I can support others. Happines and positivity is contagious!
