Deon and RaKya’s journey began with a shared thirst for knowledge from a young age. Their passion for education led them to take college classes at the age of just 16, setting the stage for an extraordinary educational odyssey. They earned degrees before graduating from high school, driven by their commitment to serving Black and Brown scholars.
Their combined talents and expertise culminated in the establishment of HUMBLE Tutoring. Recognizing the impending challenges posed by the pandemic, they were motivated to create a platform that would address the unique needs of Black and Brown students whose educational growth was at risk of being stunted.
Deon’s proficiency in simplifying complex math concepts and RaKya’s specialization in literacy and social-emotional learning provided the perfect foundation for their tutoring service. Deon, an Accountant, excelled in demystifying mathematics, empowering students not only to conquer the subject but also to approach numerical challenges with confidence. RaKya, an Educator, brought her mastery of literacy to the table, nurturing a love for reading and writing while fostering proficiency in communication.
Together, Deon and RaKya embarked on a mission to ensure that every Black and Brown scholar had access to high-quality education and support. Through HUMBLE Tutoring, they aimed to nurture academic excellence, ignite a passion for learning, and create a supportive community where every student could thrive. Balancing professional responsibilities, delivering educational services, and allocating time for the creation and expansion of resources and services for our scholars has indeed posed significant challenges. However, we’ve devised strategies to manage these responsibilities effectively.
One key strategy involves investing in our own professional development. By continuously enhancing our skills and expertise, we increase our efficiency and effectiveness in all aspects of our work. We prioritize staying informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies. This proactive approach ensures that we remain adaptable and well-equipped to meet the evolving needs of our scholars and our company.
By committing to ongoing learning and development, we not only improve our own abilities but also enhance the quality of the services we provide to our scholars.
