Hidden Gems: Meet Renita White, MD, FACOG of Georgia OB/GYN & Cradle and All Podcast

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Renita White, MD, FACOG.

Hi Dr. White, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a board-certified OB/GYN here in Atlanta. I have known I wanted to be a doctor for as long as I can remember. Specifically, I have gravitated toward women’s health. I was always intrigued by how the body worked. As a first-generation American, I was raised by my parents who immigrated to the US from Guyana, South America in the 80s. They instilled in me the drive and dedication I have to graduate from Duke University as one of the first people in my family to go to college. During my time at Duke, my passion for women’s health and wellness grew. I served as a peer educator on campus, where I was able to educate other students about common health issues. After graduation, I spent one year focused on public health. I served as a Congressional Hunger Fellow, where I did research on the effects of nutrition on health. I then went on to complete medical school at The Ohio State University, followed by my OB/GYN residency training at Emory University.

As a general OB/GYN, I see patients with a variety of conditions, including fibroids, irregular vaginal bleeding, abnormal pap smears, infertility, and menopause. It is my mission to educate women about their bodies and encourage them to address their physical and emotional health to improve overall wellness. I am so grateful for my extensive training and experience that has prepared me to be efficient, decisive, and have a keen eye for details. It is extremely important to me to ensure quality and keep an open communication with my patients. I believe in the delivery of quality patient care that focuses on patient comfort and seamless recovery.

Outside of the office, I am the creator and co-host of Cradle and All, a podcast about pregnancy, motherhood, and womanhood. I also author health articles and serve on the medical board of VeryWell Health and Flo Health. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling and spending time with my husband, two sons, and dog Nala.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not always been easy. The road through medical school and residency is tough and full of sacrifice. There were times I missed family functions and important events. However, it was well worth it.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My practice is Georgia Obstetrics and Gynecology in Atlanta and Alpharetta, Georgia. Georgia OBGYN has been treating patients for over 30 years, caring for women from one generation to the next. Some of the practice’s current patients were delivered by the experienced and board-certified team and returned as adults for their own pregnancy and childbirth needs.

I also co-host a podcast with my sister called Cradle & All. We became pregnant at the same time in both our pregnancies, and we now each have two young boys, ages 1 and 3. As working women and new mothers-to-be, we were eager to find a community of other women entering motherhood. We also have our own expertise within our respective careers.

Our experiences in our pregnancy inspired us to find a community of other mothers having similar challenges and experiences we were having. We also wanted to provide inspiration and education to women about topics on motherhood, pregnancy, and overall wellness from the lens of our experience and expertise from our careers. This inspired us to create our podcast, Cradle And All.

One of the things I love most about being an OBGYN is taking care of women in all stages of life. Whether entering adulthood or transitioning into menopause, wellness is always a key part of our health. My goal is to inspire women to take autonomy of their health and wellness, focus on daily self-care practices, and educate on common women’s health topics. It makes me proud to see my patients and other women I help build confidence in their ability to understand their body and advocate for themselves.

Outside of the hospital and the podcast, I also educate women through speaking engagements and written articles. My ultimate goal is to inspire women of all ages to put their health and wellness first.

How do you think about happiness?
My family fills my heart with joy. My husband and I have been together for 12 years. We have two young boys – Jackson (age 3) and Russell (age 1).
I love to travel and explore new cultures.

I love things that sparkle and shine. I like to add a little glitter to things, which completely matches my personality 🙂

My passion is to educate women on their bodies and empower them to advocate for their health and wellness needs. Nothing makes me happier than to connect with other women in my office or in the hospital setting.
