Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabrina Johnson.
Hi Sabrina, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My passion for numbers started very early. I can recall asking my mom to allow me to write out her bills and balance her checkbook just for fun as a teenager. I went to college for nursing but quickly learned the medical field was not for me. After moving to Georgia in 2007, my aunt Janice helped me to get hired on with her employer as a sales clerk in the accounting office. It was working there that motivated me to go back to school and begin my career in accounting. Within my first year, I received an accounting certificate while continuing to work. The Finance Director was so impressed with my work ethic that I earned a promotion within two years and moved to the corporate headquarters. Later I earned both a Bachelor of Arts and a Masters in Accounting. I progressed through several positions before venturing out on my own and launching SJ Accounting services in 2013. Starting with just a few clients and growing to over 150 tax clients annually in addition to monthly bookkeeping clients.

We strive to be recognized as a leader in the community, delivering support, objectivity, and expertise through a multi-disciplinary approach.
I formed SJ Financial Literacy Group, which is an incorporated 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was founded based on the genuine concern for the lack of financial literacy skills and the impact that has on people in economically distressed communities. Our goal is to travel throughout Fulton and Clayton Counties providing financial literacy classes that will improve lives for generations to come. I am also a Mortgage Loan Officer specializing in residential home loans.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Yes, we certainly all do face challenges. Looking back, I would describe it all as relatively smooth but it did not necessarily feel that way in those difficult moments. My advice to all is whatever you do, trust the process and keep going. You will question yourself over and over but don’t give up. Be confident in who you are, what you know and understand that every day is your opportunity to improve, so embrace it.
