Today we’d like to introduce you to Sahar Kazemi.
Hi Sahar, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m an Iranian American Business Entrepreneur. I’m a true testament of the American Dream! My family and I were forced to leave our country, Iran in 1995 for being a member of the Bahai Faith. We scape Iran through the cold mountains of Turkey and after a year living there, on February 28, 1996 we migrated to the US. I was 18 at the time and didn’t speak a word of English (still struggling LOL), however, leaving Iran was the BEST decision my parents made!
I’m now married to the Love of my life, Pejman. We celebrated our 20th anniversary last November. Together, we have two Smart and Amazing children. Our daughter, Melody 18 & our son, Mobeen 15. In the last 26 years of living in the US, I moved from Salt Lake City, UT to San Jose, CA to Plano, Texas, and settled in the beautiful Peach State, GA!
I have always loved sales. I remember when I was 12 or 13, we lived in the North if Iran, by the Caspian Sea (Florida lake weather). In the summertime, I would try to rent a couple of the rooms at our beautiful ocean-view villa that we lived in and would always get in trouble by my mom because she didn’t want strangers coming to our house. I guess I started the Airbnb back then and didn’t even know about it, LOL
I started my first real job in May of 1996, just a few short months after we moved to the US. I was hired as a kitchen crew member in Wendy’s and was paid a minimum wage of $5.25 per hour. I felt so blessed and lucky to be able to get a job and start my new life in America. That’s where I started learning some English. Throughout the years, I worked hard to be the best in everything I did! Whether I was a Kitchen Crew, a Cashier at a gas station, or a Call Center Rep, a Real Estate Agent, an Office Manager, a Paralegal, or now that I’m a Farmers Insurance Agency Owner for the last 6 years and now one of the Top 1% Agents in the Country! I am proud to be where I am because I never forget where I came from! I believe in being the best in everything you do because there are people around the world who wish that they had your opportunity and freedom of being who they want to be. Specially as a woman!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Definitely not a smooth road, however, with perseverance and having a goal in mind, it’s definitely doable. As they say, if you Believe it, you can Achieve it! When I started my own agency, I had just left another office where I was overworked and underpaid. I had to start from scratch with zero clients! I remember when I bound my first policy, I cried. Of course, of joy! I’ve been Blessed with so many great friends and clients who always refer new business to me but finding the right staff has always been a struggle, especially post-pandemic.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At my Farmers Agency, we believe in protecting those who you Love! We specialize in Personal (Auto, Home, Umbrella), Life & Retirement plans and Commercial Insurance. What makes my office different than others is that we care about our clients and their family as if they were ours. Especially at the time of claims. We want to make sure that they are properly protected. My Agency is a Multi-Award Winner in the State of Georgia in the US. Our most recent achievement was becoming a President’s Council which is the most prestigious award that is only given to 1% of the agencies in the country! We are also very involved in the community and believe in paying back to the community and paying it forward. My office participates in feeding the homeless, Road Cleaning, Supporting Refugee Organizations, Contributing to local schools and their athletic teams and several more.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Most people think that life insurance is expensive and they cannot afford it. I specialize in providing Life Insurance policies that have future income and can be used while the client is still living!
