Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Davies. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Owners Clay and Sarah have had a longtime dream to share their beers, combined with delicious food, in an environment that is different than most typical brewpubs. The idea was born after visiting Sarah’s family farm in NC and learning about her family heritage. We began experimenting with the idea of naming beers after family members and it took off from there. After visiting a brewpub in Philadelphia, we were even more inspired and decided to take the leap and put all our energy into making the dream a reality. This is the legacy Sarah and Clay want to leave.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Opening a brewpub in a pandemic leads to many, many challenges & struggles – construction delays, supply chain issues, SBA loan issues, hiring issues, licensing issues, inspection delays, rising costs of goods – you name it! The road has been bumpy to say the least, but in all the challenges we discovered strength we didn’t know we had.

We are a neighborhood brewpub serving top-rated traditional and unique beer styles alongside a food menu that focuses on high-quality and locally sourced ingredients. What sets us apart is our beautiful environment, our friendly and eclectic staff, and our huge family and dog-friendly patio. In addition, we have a coffee shop serving Intelligentisa coffee and empanadas from Casa Cardoza for the morning crowd. Biggerstaff Brewing Company has something special to offer from 8:00am-10:00pm, six days a week!
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
We are a family-owned business that tries to cultivate a family environment. We care a great deal about each other. We care a great deal about our product. We try to always evolve and grow. Our motto is: Great beer, great food, great people.
