My professional journey began in the realm of Human Resources (HR) and transitioned into chemistry, where my analytical mind thrived on problem-solving. While I enjoyed the intricacies of science, I soon discovered a more profound passion: supporting people. This realization sparked a pivotal transition into the world of human resources and Talent Acquisition (TA), where I could blend my analytical skills with empathy and understanding.

Starting as an HR consultant, I was immediately captivated by the diverse functions within the field. Each role I embraced—Talent Acquisition, HR Business Partnering, and now as an independent consultant—has enriched my perspective and deepened my commitment to making a meaningful impact in the workplace. Over more than 12 years, I’ve learned that the needs of employees and organizations must coexist harmoniously for both to thrive.

In 2023, after years of nurturing my understanding of human dynamics within organizations, I took a leap of faith and launched my own business. This was more than just a career move; it was a heartfelt mission to empower individuals and organizations alike. My goal is to create work environments where everyone can flourish, recognizing that employee support is as crucial as organizational success.

Throughout this journey, I’ve come to appreciate the importance of active listening and transparency. I realized that to truly bridge the gap between employees and organizations, I needed to understand the nuances of both sides. This commitment to fostering open communication and real-time feedback has guided my approach, enabling me to tackle challenges with confidence.

In this spirit, I founded “Interview Buddy,” a platform born from the recognition that candidates often face delays in feedback and biases during the recruitment process. My vision is to address these issues head-on while providing essential training for managers.

By fostering a culture where every candidate feels supported, I aim to create a more inclusive and efficient hiring landscape.

Navigating the Bumps: The Challenges and Triumphs of My Journey

The journey to where I am today has certainly not been a smooth road. Like many paths, it has been filled with challenges that have shaped my character and enriched my understanding of the world around me. One of the most significant struggles I encountered was adapting to the ever-evolving landscape of HR and talent acquisition. With the rapid advancement of technology and shifting workplace cultures, staying current and truly understanding diverse employee needs required a commitment to continuous learning and flexibility.

Launching my own business added a whole new layer of complexity. Building a brand from the ground up while juggling the many facets of entrepreneurship—marketing, finances, and nurturing client relationships—felt daunting at times. There were moments of self-doubt and uncertainty, particularly during slower growth periods when I questioned my decisions and the path I had chosen.

One of the toughest aspects of my role has been engaging in those difficult conversations that could potentially lead to litigation. Addressing sensitive topics is never an easy task, and I’ve learned the importance of approaching these discussions with empathy and professionalism. The stakes are high, and finding the balance between compassion and the need to protect both the individual and the organization is a constant challenge.

Additionally, grappling with biases and inefficiencies in the recruitment process has been a significant hurdle. Advocating for candidates while also considering the needs of organizations often feels like walking a tightrope. Yet, through all of these struggles, I have grown immensely. Each obstacle has only reinforced my commitment to supporting both employees and organizations, fueling my passion for creating meaningful solutions.

I also want to take a moment to express my gratitude to God for granting me the strength to keep the faith on this journey, as well as to my family—without their unwavering support, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

Beyond my work in HR consulting, I am deeply passionate about giving back to my community. I conduct HR boot camps and workshops for youth, focusing on college preparation, interview strategies (including mock interviews), and career development. This initiative allows me to empower the next generation with the essential skills and knowledge they need to succeed in their professional journeys.

While the road has been challenging, it has also been filled with invaluable lessons and opportunities for growth. Each experience has shaped my mission to create workplaces where everyone can thrive. I believe that every challenge presents an opportunity for growth, and I am excited to continue this journey, inspiring others to pursue their passions and make a positive impact in their communities.
