Today we’d like to introduce you to Shantay Reaze.
Hi Shantay, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey began in Ohio, where I was born and raised with big dreams. As a young teen, I imagined myself working in the fashion industry and running my own business, though the exact path remained unclear. It wasn’t until I moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, that I realized it could become my reality. At the Art Institute of Las Vegas, I committed fully to pursuing fashion and started building a career that reflected my creative vision.
Fresh out of college, I dove into the industry, working as a buyer for a jewelry company, gaining hands-on experience in visual merchandising, and eventually launching my own fashion styling business. Each role taught me something valuable, but I hadn’t yet found that perfect fit. It wasn’t until I worked backstage during Fashion Week Las Vegas that I truly felt that spark, that rush of energy and excitement that comes from being part of a live event. The satisfaction of watching countless moving parts come together seamlessly, in that moment, everything clicked. This was my calling.
With a foundation in business and a newfound passion for events, my daughter and I made the bold decision to relocate to Atlanta, Georgia. The move brought us closer to family while opening doors to expand my professional network. Building my business from the ground up in a new city was challenging and progress came slowly at first. But I remained focused and persistent. Then, in 2019, I began working nonprofit events, an experience that ultimately catapulted my career.
By 2021, I was ready to make it official. I launched Reaze Event Firm, now known as Reaze Event Consulting Firm, where I serve as owner and lead coordinator. Today, my firm operates as a comprehensive solution for event planning and coordination. While we’ve built our reputation specializing in nonprofit events, our expertise extends to corporate events, milestone celebrations, weddings, and everything in between.
Every chapter of my story, from fashion styling to event coordination, has taught me that creativity, organization, and connection are at the heart of every successful event. Atlanta didn’t just become my home; it became the place where my dream evolved into my purpose.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. When I moved from Las Vegas to Atlanta, I quickly realized I was starting over from square one. In Las Vegas, I’d cultivated strong connections within the industry, but Atlanta was uncharted territory. I had to rebuild my entire network from the ground up. The access and relationships I’d once relied on simply didn’t exist here, and that reality made the early days particularly difficult.
Still, a few key opportunities emerged that kept my momentum going. Those pivotal experiences helped me forge valuable connections and gave me crucial insight into Atlanta’s event culture. Progress was slow, not only because I was new to the city, but also because I was working with limited funds and resources.
The truth is, my path to becoming an event coordinator was anything but linear. I explored several business ideas along the way, pivoting and adjusting as I went. But nothing felt quite right. I kept searching for something that truly resonated with my deeper purpose, something that felt authentically mine.
Looking back now, I see how every struggle and setback served a greater purpose in shaping who I’ve become. Each obstacle taught me patience, perseverance, and invaluable clarity about my identity and the impact I want to make through my business. So no, it wasn’t easy, but I can honestly say I wouldn’t change a single thing. Those challenges didn’t just build my business; they built me.

What does success mean to you?
To me, success is that profound sense of achievement that comes from reaching a goal you’ve poured yourself into. It’s rarely about the scale of the accomplishment, it’s about the journey, the growth, and the transformation that happens along the way. Every event I plan, regardless of size, presents its own unique set of challenges and milestones. Watching all those pieces fall into place is where I find my definition of success.
For example, it’s in those moments when a client steps into their event space and their face lights up with pure joy, or when a nonprofit shatters their fundraising goal and you realize your work played a vital role in making that happen.
Success isn’t always measured in accolades or dollar signs, it’s measured in impact, in fulfillment, and in the deep satisfaction of knowing you’ve transformed someone’s vision into reality. That’s the kind of success that keeps me going and the kind that fuels my purpose.
