Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharika Hubbard.
Hi Sharika, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
In 2018, during my freshman year at Georgia State University, I was introduced to eyelash extensions. The following year my local lash technician suggested that I be her first graduate for her lash training course. With no hesitation, I decided to take the course being her first student. At the time, I had no intentions on starting a business besides completing the course. The following month I started my business and began accepting clients in my living room.
Approximately a year after starting my business, Covid made an appearance and shifted my business. During Covid, my father and I decided to renovate a utility shed and convert it into a salon space to host my clients and provide service.
I decided to show family and friends the final results which resulted in the post going viral on social media. It expanded my network and introduced to me to so many clients. I decided to continue to expand my business by starting my own Eyelash Extension product line where I began selling Tweezers, Lash Baths, Lash trays, etc.
As I am approaching my fourth year as an entrepreneur, I am super grateful for this opportunity.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being an entrepreneur has presented many challenges, the biggest hurdle being balancing being a full-time college entrepreneur and learning the nuances of the business. All of the hard work has been really rewarding!
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
As a child, I was super adventurous and loved taking risks and being introduced to new and exciting activities.
