Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharonda Thompson.
Hi Sharonda, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up on the Southside of Metro Atlanta, from my early childhood in College Park, GA to my adolescence in Clayton County before I left for school. Throughout my entire childhood, I witnessed my mom work two, and sometimes three, traditional jobs, as well as carry some entrepreneurial hustles to provide for my siblings and myself. I suppose I learned how to be a “jack of all trades” from her. I began a career in real estate when I was 20 years old. That was 13 years ago. And at that time, I was enrolled as an undergraduate at Albany State University. I felt torn between my field of study, Accounting, and selling real estate, and for several years, I thought I’d have to choose between the two. Then one day, I was reminded by my mom that I could do any and all things that I set out to do. So, here I am, a Purchasing Director for the largest school district in Southwest Georgia, a Platinum Leader in one of the top investment organizations with IM Mastery Academy, and one of the youngest Broker Owners of an Atlanta-based Real Estate Company.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
What is the complete opposite of smooth? lol That’s what my road has been. Some things I brought on myself inadvertently and some of the obstacles I incurred were completely out of my control. I realized that both, however, served me well along my journey because I was able to learn and grow from it all. For instance, I held one position that I was really proud of and I had to walk away from it for reasons that were really troubling to me. I remember walking away, feeling hurt and defeated, but I was still able to turn that experience into a win. What I viewed as defeat really was a necessary release. It gave me the freedom necessary to go back to school and earn a Master’s degree in Business Administration as well as study for and earn a Broker’s license in real estate. To be completely transparent, I did not take advantage of learning from the mistakes of people around me when I was coming into who I was meant to be. Fortunately, there was a path laid out just for me, and there was no struggle or circumstance, internal or otherwise, that could deter me.

Knox Realty Company is a full-service real estate company specializing in residential sales. Our agents collaborate with homeowners to develop the best marketing strategy to sell their home fast and for top dollar. We also work with homebuyers to find the home of their dreams and help them negotiate the best purchase price possible. The company is named in honor of my late mother, Sharon Knox.
How do you define success?
Success to me is a loaded term. It knows that I’m positively impacting the people I encounter, having a meaningful role during any engagement, and it has a strong work-life balance.
