Tahirah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Blue Lily Wedding Services was created on a leap of faith. I have always been a hopeless romantic, and a big believer on bringing families together. What better way to celebrate both than with a wedding? I have seen every romantic and cheesy wedding movie you can name such as The Wedding Singer to Jumping the Broom. The message is all the same, that love is the most important aspect to yourself and the people around you. I wanted to be a part of that experience for others and built Blue Lily with that blueprint.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been a smooth, nerve-wrecking journey so far. I have learned so much and found a great mentor who supports my vision and has been willing to mold me into a great businesswoman. And for that, I will always be grateful. The wedding industry can feel cutthroat because everyone wants the clients, the recognition, and of course to build their own brand. I operate the best with the mentality of collaboration over competition. Some of the struggles that I have faced and overcome is advertising and stepping out of my comfort zone. You must make yourself seen even though we work in the background. Every day I am pushing myself to engage with potential clients and network with other businesses.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Blue Lily Wedding Services is a company that I take great pride in. We offer services such as officiant services, full-service planning, partial planning, and day of coordination. We also offer a la carte services such as Wedding Week Concierge Services to assist with our client’s wedding website. Although we are an intimate company, we strive for professionalism, comfortability and reliability. We are your bridal bestie from the moment you book us until the moment you leave your wedding venue as a newly wedded couple.
It is important that my clients are well taken care of during the wedding planning process, and of course for their big day. Your wedding day is one of your greatest milestones in life, and you should relish in that moment instead of stressing over the logistics.
How do you think about luck?
My role of luck has been my genuine spirit of persistence and wanting the best for the people around me. I am that person that will gladly share a resource, tip, or hack that will help the people around me elevate. Life can already feel overwhelming enough with the day-to-day routine, but if I can give a helpful solution to ease that burden, then I know I have done a good thing.
