Hidden Gems: Meet Taianah Williams of Ty Lashed Her

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taianah Williams.

Hi Taianah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Greetings, my name is Taianah, best known as “Ty”. I am a 19-year-old Lash Artist from Atlanta, Ga (The SWATS). It all started my senior year at Therrell High School. Working since I was 14 years old, I wanted to be my own boss. I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted to do. I would constantly research on the internet for things to do. I saw that I could start a clothing brand, but I wasn’t passionate enough to get it started, I really didn’t know where to start with it. I then went to Instagram, scrolling up and down on my timeline. I kept seeing flyers about taking lash classes and how much revenue you could make in within two weeks. I would see various of lash flyers daily. I never saw myself getting into the lash industry. I begin to research more about becoming a lash tech and the lash industry. I started to think that I finally found my passion, I finally found something that I would really enjoy doing.

I took an online lash class in March of 2020. The class was very much visual and I know that I’m a kinesthetic learner, so I took a hands-on class in May and everything turned out great. I learned so many techniques and skills. I knew that I was going to college in August of 2020 and wanted to start my business and build my clientele in Savannah. I attend the illustrious Savannah State University. I didn’t think college girls would actually pay to get their lashes done. I did my first volume set at Savannah State. I was so proud and amazed with myself because I never did a volume set on anyone before. I later started posting my business on Instagram and Twitter, which later led me to a huge clientele at Savannah State. I look forward to building my clientele even more in Savannah and Atlanta. If you have something in mind that you love to do, go for it! You have to know your “Why”! You have to start somewhere to get somewhere! You have to have a Plan! Thank You!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being a Lash Artist isn’t easy, I have stumbled across some obstacles and challenges with my lash retention & lash sets. I use to just want to give up because I wanted everything to be perfect, but I learned to learn from my mistakes and perfect my craft. I started joining Facebook lash groups and collaborating with other lash techs. I knew that 2020 was my year to work on and perfect my craft and 2021 is the year to execute the plan and go ten times harder!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My business, “Ty Lashed Her”, launched in March of 2020. I started this lash business to become my own boss and work for myself. I do mink lash extensions and look forward to expanding my services. My work ethic and personality set me apart from others. I make sure I write my plans out and execute them. My personality starts off shy but later becomes nice, fun, loving, etc. I am most proud of my clientele at Savannah State, I never saw myself actually finding something that I would love to do. I would like others to know that I won’t stop and I won’t give up. My services will be bigger and better!

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I feel that confidence and leadership is most important to my success. If I have confidence, then I could overcome my fears in the lash industry. If I have leadership, then I could lead and help others.
