Hidden Gems: Meet Tierra Freeman of Plenteeful Sweets

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tierra Freeman.

Hi Tierra, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Tierra Freeman and I am the proud owner of Plenteeful Sweets!

In 2022, after graduating from Georgia Southern University, with a Bachelors in Early Childhood Education, I had an idea to sell food and start a food truck busuness, particularly potatoes. At the time I was vegan and I was coming up with flavors that I thought my audience would love. But as time went on I noticed that I wasn’t able to market how I would like, so I decided in 2024 to sell baked goods instead. Little did I know that changing the types of food that I sold would change my entire store front, menu, and life.

In college, I really wanted to focus on clean ingredients and avoid overprocessed goods. As of now Plenteeful Sweets sell brownies, cupcakes, and cookies. And because I was vegan and knowing that there are very few delicious vegan goods, we sell plant based/vegan options as well.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road was not smooth at all. Funding is probably the biggest blocker as to why most people do not start a business, let alone follow their dreams of having a business. Although my business is small and I’m gaining traction obviously I don’t expect to be a millionaire but I do expect to make food that can reach people and make people feel good.

What makes my business different from other people is that I try to choose ingredients that I would want to cook for my family. Being vegan in college changed my prospective on the type of foods we consume and i wanted to feel good about what I’m serving to my customers.

At Plenteeful Sweets we use ingrediants like plant-based food coloring and unbleached sugar and flour makes my baked goods different than the average baker.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Plenteeful Sweets?
Here at Plenteeful sweets we are a Home bakery that specializes in baked goods that make you feel good and that is inclusive for people who are also on a plant based diet. We sell brownies, cupcakes, cookies and occasionally especially on holidays, we sell pound cakes and cake trays as well. As a company I want to continue to build up a community that people can feel comfortable, seen, and understood.

Growing up my Nana always told us that when you’re baking something for people or sharing food with others that it should be prepared with care and love. Ive always took that to heart lol…. thats why I never try to bake when I’m upset or mad. Here at Plenteeful Sweets we have a passion for serving the community. Thats why our motto is that our baked good are “Made from the Heart”.

A few flavors that we sell are Strawberry Shortcake and Biscoff Cookie Butter Cupcakes. Brown butter chocolate chip cookies and Red velvet white chocolate cookies, Turtle and Cookies & Cream brownies, just the name of you few 🙂

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Having a job and running a business is a huge risk, especially having a business in home is kind of hard. Most people feel like if your products are made in your home, it may not be worth taking the chance because we have yet to have a brick and mortar (but we claim it!) I hope that doing this interview would convince more people to try our goods because I think we have something truly special that hasn’t got discovered to everyone just yet.

I will say that my family and friends have made this business more than what I could dream of because they have told their friends and their friends told their friends. I’m happy that I’m able to build a level of trust with the people that buy my goods.

My husband Roderickius Freeman is really my BIGGEST supporter because he tries every. single. cupcake, cake, and brownie that goes out the door. Just to make sure that I get the flavors right even if I have to make an item 7 times… lol
