Today we’d like to introduce you to Tinzley Bradford.
Hi Tinzley, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up, I dated guys who just didn’t seem to really add any value to my life, didn’t want to commit and many were womanizers which is a person who has many relationships, but none of them considered serious in their eyes. They dated me only to use me in whatever manner they could. Reminded me of my father who unfortunately was also a womanizer. I also noticed many of the guys I dated had these unrealistic expectations for me to look a certain way, to add major value to their life, be accessible whenever they needed and pretty much be flawless and they even wanted me to have pretty feet. I just got tired of it and eventually I created a blog and I started writing in the blog daily, the blog consisted of me pretty much being extremely sarcastic about guys in a humorous matter, saying not so pleasant things about them and just sharing my frustrations about the dating world at that time. My blog started getting notoriety, people with like-minded ideas and similarities began to contact me and we did some collaborations in the dating/ relationship field, which got me more exposure, then I wrote a book titled “The Settlefree Dating Method for Women, a No-Nonsense Advice Guide to Remind you that You are More!”’. After writing the book, I started getting invited to relationship/ dating events to speak and share my thought process about Settlefree dating and the importance of refusing to settle for less in life and love. I decided to start coaching women on how to stop settling for less than they deserve when choosing a mate. Fast forward to now, I’m an Author, Speaker, Journalist and regular contributor on TVONES hit crime drama show “Fatal Attraction.”
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it’s never a smooth road when you’re working to reach your greater purpose in life. Many of the obstacles was competition from others, not being able to really and truly find a loyal tribe, people I know who I have granted spots on my platforms, not reciprocating the same to me, people thinking that because I don’t have a license in counseling or therapy, I should not be sharing dating advice and many times, just weird behavior from what appeared to be insecure people and those who saw me as a threat. Here’s a bit of advice for them, sis, “I don’t need a license to see your relationship is toxic! Sis, if you’re doing all the work in the relationship to make it work and you have to force it to work that’s not a good sign honey! Ha Ha
I also struggled financially which was very tough to deal with when trying to operate a successful business.
See, I’ve always been such a giving, loving, inclusive person who see value in those who I believe are passionate about what they are speaking on. I’d invite people to my events as guest speakers and those same people would not even reciprocate by inviting me as a guest on their platform when they hosted events, some of them even met at my event. .Ha Ha Ha It was pretty eye opening.
Back to that license matter, I mention on my website under services that I’m not a licensed clinical therapist, I’m a coach, who help women realize their purpose, realize their worth and refuse to settle for less than they deserve because that’s what I’ve done in my life and it’s really really been a blessing to me and even today, I have a pretty healthy dating life, I’ve been in a relationship a few times, but unlike many people, I’ve never been in and stayed in an abusive, toxic relationship because of low self-esteem or no confidence, I don’t deal with bad behavior or mistreatment from anyone! Some women many times suffer from setbacks and low self-esteem and find themselves dating the same kind of toxic men, I help them gain the confidence to stop doing that. A bad relationship can destroy your life.
The lessons I have learned through all of this is letting go of what was, so you can focus on what is. See I was very loyal to my comfort zone and instead of looking at things for what they were, I tried to hold on to what they used to be or what I believed they should have been. I had to realize that everybody you meet isn’t going to always be in your corner and you shouldn’t expect them to. True happiness is when you take your power back and don’t rely on what others think to determine your worth.
“If you worry too much about what might be, or what might have been, you will ignore and overlook what is. Remember this. On the average day happiness is letting go of what you assume life is supposed to be like, and sincerely appreciating it for everything it is.” – Marc and Angel HACK LIFE
I also struggled financially which was very tough to deal with when trying to grow and operate a successful business. I had to level up my finances so that I could better grow my business. Living check to check and not having the resources to reach the next level can be tough, so if you aren’t able to get capital, or grants to grow your business, I suggest making sure the 9 to 5 you work, pays you very well. This is what my settlefree lifestyle is all about. If you aren’t happy where you are, whether it’s your relationships, or your finances, or your career, don’t settle in that spot and just deal with an unfulfilled life, work towards the thing you want and trust me, if you truly believe and stay focus, your life will change for the better.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
