Today we’d like to introduce you to Tykesha Murray.
Hi Tykesha, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am 26 years old. I was born in Bakersfield, California. I remember during my childhood wanting my own fashion line and planning to attend college in Los Angeles, California to pursue my career having a fashion line and being a model. I faced several challenges in my life. I started living on my own at age 18 living in a small studio then worked my way up to where I am today. I currently have an online clothing store and airbnb in Atlanta. I’m still not where I want to be in life but I am close. I do suggest going for what you want in your life and don’t listen to what other people say about your choices and do it solo. All my life, I’ve been very determined to do things with having my disability called cerebral palsy which doesn’t allow me to walk and talk I truly think if I wasn’t in my situation I life wouldn’t be such an inspiration to the world. In 2020, I moved to Georgia on my own to attend college and a career. I followed my signs it was the best choice I’ve ever made even though it hasn’t been easy but I’m still pushing forward to the level of living life how I deserve. I was accepted in Clayton university and Georgia state university. I have chosen GSU! Someday I plan to open my own clothing or a low-income apartment duplex for disabled people. I also want to be an inspiration for women to tell them it’s ok to do things alone being a Sagittarius which you take a lot of risks with a brave feeling can sometimes be a good choice to go something you want.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been easy because I face several challenges to get what I need to succeed. People think just because I have a disability, I cannot think for myself or made the wrong choice by moving to Atlanta. During my move to Georgia, I was told I cannot get a caregiver because I do most things on my own it also made have doubts about moving to Georgia I know if I keep going and be strong everything will come together in my favor. I am very proud of myself; this is just the beginning of my career and I am thankful to be capable to handle everything on my own with my disability.
We’ve been impressed with Luscious Tee Boutique, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
It is an online women clothing line that has dresses, two-piece sets and more, I also was blessed to have celebrities/ popular people support my line such as Kay Chanel and Toya Johnson so far and many more to come.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
