Hidden Gems: Meet Vanessa Hardiman of Boss Kidz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Hardiman.

Hi Vanessa, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Vanessa Hardiman, the Founder of Boss Kidz Inc. Prior to starting this organization, I gained experience working with Sheraton Hotels, General Motors Corporation, and United Parcel Service Inc., Throughout my career, I have worked in various fields such as customer service, business development, and finance. Although I have an extensive background working in Corporate America with both large and small clients, I was always drawn to working with community-based efforts to improve the lives of others.

In 2022, I established Boss Kidz, Inc. driven by my belief in the value of education and the need to supplement school teachings with a focus on entrepreneurship. Recognizing the value of entrepreneurship as a crucial skill for students, I created Boss Kidz Inc. with the goal of equipping students with the necessary skills to succeed in business. Our organization offers workshops, mentorship programs, and a business incubator to facilitate their development.

Beyond teaching students about business, Boss Kidz Inc. also prioritizes the development of creativity and problem-solving skills. I firmly believe that these skills are fundamental to success in any field and provide students with challenging projects to foster growth.

What makes our program unique is the following:

  1. Student-driven curriculum: At Boss Kidz, Inc., students actively participate in shaping the content and curriculum. This approach ensures that the programs align with their interests, needs, and aspirations, resulting in a more engaging and relevant learning experience.
  2. Paid opportunities and school credit: We provide students with paid opportunities, When applicable, allowing them to earn money while acquiring valuable skills. Additionally, students can receive school credit for their involvement in our programs, bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world application.
  3. Emphasis on career readiness exploration: Boss Kidz, Inc. extends beyond entrepreneurship education by emphasizing career readiness exploration. By exposing students to various career paths and guiding them in making informed decisions, we empower them to choose educational and professional paths that align with their passions and interests.
  4. Reduction in illegal activities and anxiety: Through our programs, we equip students with practical business knowledge and experiences, reducing their reliance on illegal activities for income generation. Moreover, students report feeling less anxious about their career preparedness, thanks to our emphasis on business principles and critical thinking for problem-solving purposes.
  5. Enhanced partnerships and community collaboration: Boss Kidz, Inc. has strategically partnered with middle schools, high schools, colleges, and other organizations that support entrepreneurship. These partnerships provide students with access to additional resources and opportunities that may have otherwise been inaccessible, fostering a collaborative community approach to educating and supporting young entrepreneurs.

By offering a student-driven curriculum, paid opportunities, career readiness exploration, and promoting engagement, Boss Kidz, Inc. stands out as a unique organization. We combine education, entrepreneurship, and community collaboration to empower students and prepare them for successful futures.

One of my favorite mottos is:” It’s only a crazy idea until you do IT”. In my spare time, spending time with family and friends, interior design, reading, traveling, and exploring new areas of Atlanta.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As with any new organization, we go through some of the same challenges, such as adequate funding, proper board staffing, and marketing to reach the attention of more students and funders.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
ABOUT US

Boss Kidz, Inc. is a hands-on program geared toward improving students’ interest in education, financial literacy, leadership, career readiness, and entrepreneurship.

Our program is uniquely designed to provide students with a creative outlet that connects them with like-minded peers and allows them to collaborate and even earn a profit!

OUR MISSION
Our mission is to inspire students that feel disconnected from school and provide them with a creative, hands-on environment designed to teach them a professional and practical skill set centered around the world of business.

Schools teach students to take tests. We teach them to have an entrepreneurial mindset and supplement what is taught with practical applications. This allows students to make better, more informed career choices and seek an education in areas they are passionate about.
