Hidden Gems: Meet Ventavis Sullivan of YoYo’s Oyster Corner

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ventavis Sullivan.

Hi Ventavis , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hey my name is Ventavis Sullivan aka Ratchet Rabbit born and raised in Atlanta Georgia a Grady baby is what they like to call us lol! Grew up in the East Atlanta area right off glenwood rd. I come from a large family 3 sisters and 1 brother & my grandmother had six children so everyday our house smelled like a soul food restaurant my grandma Dorthey Mae threw down as they use to say lol any and everyone who’s visited our house she was sure to offer them a seat at our table so naturally when it was my turn to feed the hood I did so in the most delicious and urban way possible. Started out under a tent with two bbq grills and a dream in my heart the size of Stone Mountain! As I grew so did my customer list and the demand for these unique oysters we were providing I went out and purchased a big yellow school bus painted it all black and converted it into a Oyster food truck definitely the first of its kind never before seen in Atlanta and that’s when YoYo’s Oyster Corner was created named after my one and only daughter. We went through a few challenges being I’ve never owned a restaurant or had any experience in the business I was sadly shut down due to no food permits the news channel came out to interview me and wondered how could a food truck in the ghetto streets of Atlanta became so popular while illegally operating I said simply the hood loves me lol! Nevertheless I turned my nightmare into reality dream an took the honest do right route went and purchased a brand new food trailer got my permits now I’m happy to say we are back in business and better then ever!!! We support the big back community lol!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It certainly has not been a smooth road but it has been a learning experience the course I took would’ve humbled the highest king when I was on the news they slandered my name drug it through the mud but the hood loved me and the food was delicious so they helped me by voicing there opinions under ever post all good and positive comments and feedback where given the streets motivated me to come back bigger, better, and stronger knowing I couldn’t let my daughter down I put in the work and made the sacrifices to improve and overcome so I humbly thank God, my baby girl Aoki, and the streets of Atlanta!

We’ve been impressed with YoYo’s Oyster Corner, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I currently have the only Oyster New Orleans Cajun inspired food truck in Atlanta offering only the best and freshest ingredients!
