Hidden Gems: Meet Verity Yata of Love My Body Portrait Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Verity Yata.

Hi Verity, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
For most of my life, I struggled with how I saw my body. Like so many women, I spent years feeling disconnected from myself, chasing confidence, and believing I had to change before I was worthy of being seen. Photography was not just my creative outlet, but how I found acceptance of my body.

Over time, I realized that the most powerful transformations weren’t just about posing or lighting. They were about permission. Permission to take up space. Permission to feel beautiful exactly as you are. Permission to be seen without apology.

I created Love My Body Portrait Studio to give women (and men) that experience.

What started as a passion project slowly evolved into a studio dedicated to empowerment, healing, and self-celebration. Every session is designed to be a safe, affirming space where clients feel supported, guided, and comfortable in their own skin. Watching someone walk in nervous and leave standing taller, more confident, and more connected to themselves is what keeps me going.

Today, Love My Body Portrait Studio is about more than portraits. It’s about helping people rewrite the story they tell themselves when they look in the mirror and reminding them that they are worthy of love, confidence, and beauty at every stage of life.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road and honestly, I don’t think meaningful work ever is.

One of the biggest struggles has been navigating my own growth alongside the business. Love My Body Portrait Studio is rooted in self-worth and confidence, and that required me to do a lot of inner work myself before I could truly hold space for others. Building a business that centers on vulnerability means constantly showing up with integrity, empathy, and strength even on days when self-doubt or exhaustion creep in.

Another major challenge has been my health. Over the past few years, I’ve dealt with ongoing health issues that significantly impacted my energy levels and forced me to slow down and, at times, put the business on hold entirely. That was a difficult reality to accept, especially as someone who is driven and deeply passionate about her work. Learning to listen to my body, prioritize healing, and redefine productivity was one of the hardest lessons I’ve faced.

I’ve also seen firsthand how deeply ingrained beliefs about our bodies affect people. Many clients walk in carrying years of criticism, comparison, and shame. Creating a space where they feel safe enough to let that go takes patience, trust, and intention. It’s incredibly rewarding work, but it’s not easy.

From a practical standpoint, building something meaningful takes time. There were, and continue to be, moments of uncertainty. I am learning how to balance creativity with sustainability, trusting my vision, and continuing to invest in the studio even when growth felt slow or unpredictable.

Those challenges ultimately shaped Love My Body Portrait Studio into what it is today. They taught me resilience, compassion, and alignment and they allow me to connect more deeply with the people I photograph. The journey hasn’t been linear, but it’s been intentional, and it continues to guide how I show up for myself and for my clients.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Love My Body Portrait Studio is an empowerment-focused portrait studio designed to help people reconnect with themselves and see their beauty in a new way. While many photography studios focus solely on the final images, my work is rooted in encouraging body acceptance and working with people of all ages and backgrounds.

I specialize in boudoir, fine-art portraiture, and self-celebration sessions for women and men at every stage of life, whether they’re navigating a major transition, healing their relationship with their body, celebrating a milestone, or simply choosing themselves for the first time. My clients come from all backgrounds, body types, and ages, and many arrive feeling nervous, self-critical, or unsure. What I am known for is creating a safe, affirming space where you can be yourself.

What truly sets Love My Body Portrait Studio apart is our intentional, guided approach. From wardrobe support and posing guidance to thoughtful conversation and emotional awareness, clients are never left wondering how to stand, how to look, or whether they “belong” in front of the camera. Every session is collaborative and deeply personal, not about changing who someone is, but about helping them see what’s already there.

Love My Body Portrait Studio is also known for artistic versatility. Sessions can range from soft, natural, and intimate to bold, dramatic, whimsical, or conceptual. Whether a client wants something elegant, playful, powerful, sensual, or artistic, I design each experience around their comfort level and vision. No two sessions are the same.

Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is that Love My Body Portrait Studio stands for honesty and self-worth over perfection. This isn’t about trends, filters, or unrealistic beauty standards. It’s about authenticity, confidence, and permission, permission to take up space, to be seen, and to celebrate your body exactly as it is right now.

Many clients tell me they leave feeling lighter, stronger, and more confident than when they arrived. That impact lasts far beyond the session itself.

At its core, this brand exists to remind people that they don’t have to wait to feel worthy. They already are.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
If there’s one thing I’d love readers to take away, it’s that you don’t have to wait for the “right time” to feel confident or worthy. So many people put off being seen until they’ve lost weight, healed more, reached a milestone, or become a different version of themselves. But life is happening now and you are already enough as you are.

Love My Body Portrait Studio exists to remind people that confidence isn’t something you earn later; it’s something you allow yourself to step into. Choosing to be photographed can be an act of self-respect, courage, and self-love, especially for those who’ve spent years being critical of themselves.

My hope is that anyone reading this feels encouraged to be a little gentler with themselves, to celebrate their body and their story exactly where they are, and to remember that being seen isn’t about perfection. It’s about presence.
