Today we’d like to introduce you to Yolanda Thomas.
Hi Yolanda, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have had a love a juicing for over 25 years. It all started shortly after the birth of my son. He was about 6 months old and he was starting to have health issues. I was a 1st-time mom and was worried. I didn’t know what to do, but I knew that whatever it was, I wanted it to be natural, so I took him to see his pediatrician. She very quickly whipped out her pad and wrote a couple of prescriptions and sent me on my way.
Now, I do understand that medicine is important. but I really felt that there had to be a way to heal him naturally. So I crumpled up the prescription sheets and started researching natural healing. The most natural remedy that I could find was organic juicing. I studied the benefits of hundreds of fruits and veggies and went to work combining them. I came up with the perfect combination to cure my little boobie. I was soooo happy and blown away by the fact that I was able to use God’s creation to heal my son. With this revelation, I was encouraged to go further to explore diseases that plague our communities (diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, heart disease, obesity, everything.) I started diving into juice recipes that promoted better health in specific areas like the heart, kidney, liver… After seeing the results that juicing had on my son, I started juicing for my family and friends – basically, anyone that had a free hand, I put a juice in it. Fast forward, Years later, my father, who at the time was not the biggest fan of healthy living, became ill and had to have a kidney transplant, and had his legs amputated because of years of diabetes. Once he got home from his surgeries, I created a meal/juice plan that reversed his diabetes to the point where he went from taking several shots a day to one a day. My dad is now one of my biggest fans.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My biggest initial obstacle was finding the most effective juicers that maintained the nutrients of the fruits and vegetables without sacrificing taste. Secondly, finding a place to juice without disrupting family life and destroying my kitchen.
