Hidden Gems: Meet Zulimar Sulbaran of Serenity Oasis Spa LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zulimar Sulbaran.

Hi Zulimar, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I arrived in this country in June 2017 with the goal of staying for five months and then returning to Venezuela, but destiny had something else in store for my life. Due to major reasons, I couldn’t go back to my country. Venezuela. I have always tried to live my life the right way. I had to leave this country to go Chile to seek new opportunities, but what I didn’t imagine was that in less than two months, our savings were gone like water. We found ourselves obliged to return and try new paths in this country again. That day began my journey. Upon arriving in this country, immigration detained us; my husband was imprisoned for having worked here without a work permit. I, along with my two-year-old son, was processed, and we were about to be detained, but God, in His goodness, granted us humanitarian parole and we were released under conditional liberty.I was forced to work as a housekeeper and in a warehouse, where I only had six dollars left for food during the week. Sometimes I did have those moments the not having anything to eat but always great full with God because he is good at all times.I went from having everything in Venezuela to having absolutely nothing. This is how a very difficult year passed for me, and I began working in construction. God blessed me with the opportunity to meet my beloved husband, who has supported me from the beginning and has been with me on this journey and life project.I was very clear about what I wanted to do when I had cancer at the age of 23. From that moment on, I felt the urge to find a way to help women reinvent themselves and be resilient to all the changes they need in their lives. At that moment, I understood that life is not easy, especially for us women, who sometimes have to be both father and mother to our children, setting aside our own identity as individuals with emotional needs. This led me to seek knowledge in aesthetics. I always had the concept that a spa was aimed at a target audience of women with high economic status, without the opportunity for those services to reach working women who lack the financial means to access these necessary services for our development as women, in order to connect with ourselves and reinforce our self-esteem since outer beauty reflects what we carry inside. This is how Serenity Oasis Spa was born.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey has not been easy, first because of the language. I arrived in this country not speaking English, and when I got here, all my studies, which took years of sacrifice in my country Venezuela, had no equivalent and were worth nothing. I felt lost and unrecognizable; it took me three years to reconnect with myself again.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Serenity Oasis Spa LLC ?

When I was 23 I graduated from a university in Curacao with a bachelor’s degree in management sciences. I have always been interested in preparing myself and studying to obtain tools to help others. I studied coaching and euro linguistic programming to help me cope with everyday life.
