Humble Beginnings with The Atomix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chinoo and Tay Da Producer.

Chinoo and Tay Da Producer, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
We met back in the DMV area playing keyboards for a Go-Go band (genre from DC). From there, we began making beats together. I (Chinoo) went to college at Full Sail University in Orlando, FL and during my first year, Tay would visit as often as possible so we could continue making beats. The following year, Tay enrolled at the same University where we eventually decided to form the production team – The Atomix. That same year we landed a placement with Kodak Black, and a few other records were released while we were still in college. Once we graduated, we moved to Atlanta, GA where we wanted to find a way to expand our reach and work with artists all throughout Atlanta. We freelanced for a majority of the time to support ourselves. Eventually, we began making a relationship with the people of, Atlantic records and Means Street Studios. Over a period of time, I (Chinoo) got various opportunities to record/produce; alongside my partner (Tay), for artists such as 112, DreamDoll, Lil Uzi Vert, Rico Nasty, 21 Savage, and most recently A. Boogie. Over the past two years or so, we have been working with various artists directly trying to establish a sound with them that is unique. Currently, we have our own artist, by the name of Young Kirb, which we have major plans for, as well as continuing to build on The Atomix Music Group’s production credits.

Has it been a smooth road? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, it definitely has not been a smooth road. Our mentality is, there will always be problems and issues that may cross our path. It is our job to remember why we started and to find ways to make the best out of each situation.

Tell us about your business/company. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of as a company? What sets you apart from others?
I would honestly say that we are producers in the aspect of how DJ Khaled would define producers. Yea, we make the beats, but we also like to be in the room with artist and bounce ideas off each other, and rearrange or structure the song in order to maximize the potential of the song. Things like trying out a different drum pattern or maybe “let’s add a switch up at this part of the song” and “place a drop here and there” or telling the artists “try saying this line a different way” are things that set us apart. We like to be hands-on in getting a dope record with any artists we work with instead of being those guys that only email the beats and can’t really feel the outcome of the music when it’s being created. We definitely take pride in creating a sound with artists that takes them out of their normal zone. We want to give artists those records, that they have not done before. I think that’s what the people who have worked with us like about us most.

What has been the proudest moment of your career so far?
Our proudest moment would definitely be going #1 on Billboard Top 200 and also going Gold for producing three records on Hoodie Szn by A. Boogie. A majority of producers who are fairly new, do not get to reach certain milestones and we were fortunate enough to do it. It’s a blessing we were able to contribute to that project.
