Today we’d like to introduce you to Amira Johnson.
Hi Amira, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory
Growing up, I’ve always considered myself to be empathetic and caring. I’ve always desired for myself and others to experience a reality where there is love, community and ultimately bliss. After my mother passed away from cancer in the year 2015, I felt a deep desire to know more and feel more of what life has to offer. In 2016 I shifted my reality in a major way by changing my diet, I went vegan, and along that journey, I started to connect to myself more spiritually. I had a yearning to read books, connecting with myself more mentally, as well as a deep desire to become healthier physically, which led me to exercise more and practicing yoga.
In 2018 I delved deeper and became a certified yoga instructor and enrolled in a Masters Degree program in the field of Social Work. In the fall of 2020, I graduated and started practicing as a psychotherapist at Berman Psychotherapy here in Atlanta. My ultimate goal is to help people reconnect with themselves on a mental, physical, spiritual and emotional level. I wanted to blend my passion of therapy, mental health work with my passion of healthy living, physical work. In honor of my mother, I created the brand Rho’s Garden, her name was Rhonda, an adaptogenic supplement brand that supports both mental and physical health. Adaptogens are substances used in herbal medicine that can help the body react better to stressors, anxiety, and depression while at the same time aid in physical wellness. The Rho’s Garden brand officially launches in February 2021.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Truth be told, the journey has not been easy simply because I am an overthinker and I tend to come up with ideas and out of fear, discard them. The “not good enough” thoughts have overpowered me in the past. However, when the idea came to me for my brand, I immediately knew this was going to be a game-changer and I can no longer live a life of comfort. I am a firm believer in the idea that if you’re not living, you are simply existing and I no longer want to exist, I want to live, which includes stepping outside of my comfort zone.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Rho’s Garden?
Rho’s Garden is an adaptogenic supplement brand whose mission is to aid in the mental and physical wellness of the collective. What I am most proud of is the fact that this brand was created with integrity, meaning the well-being of the collective is what is most important. Everything is safely handcrafted and created with positive intentions. Officially launching in February 2021, we will have three blends for people to tap into — detox, calm, and an energy boost.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Due to COVID-19, I believe that mental and physical health will be a priority over the next 5-10 years. I believe that it will be dire for people to get the help that they need, which may include seeking out a therapist, like myself, or gravitating towards more holistic living which can include incorporating healthy supplements into one’s everyday diet for overall health and well-being.
