Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Wilson Jr.
Hi Anthony, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi my name is Anthony Wilson, Jr. I’m a 27 year old African American male born and raised in Augusta, Ga. I’m a Master Cosmetologist and Celebrity Stylist who specializes in many different things. A few things I have under my belt are business management experience, 4+ years working in the hair show industry, certified master colorist, certified master balayage colorist, certified MUA, educator, health care worker, loc specialist and so much more. I started doing hair around the age of 12 and never stopped since then. I currently have my Associates Degree in Health and currently pursuing my Masters in Public Health. Art has always been one of my many gifts. Because of my gift in art, it aids me on my journey of doing hair.
Changing people’s appearances and making them feel better about themselves is the best gift I could share with the world! Knowing that I have an impact on my culture and many more makes me want to do more! Showing them that there is a way out, there is a way that you can be more free and learning that your passion will always pay you! I’m still amazed with where I am today but I’m not content. I desire more for me and everyone around me. If I can do it, anybody can do it. I’m looking forward to success in the near future!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Business hasn’t always been a fairly smooth road for me. One of the biggest obstacles I’ve encountered is being a Black, Gay Male. Dealing with family not accepting my sexuality because of their own personal and religious reasons, has made it hard for me to be who I am, freely. I’ve also encountered the loss of close friends and family that I thought were rooting for me, but only kept me around for the benefit of their needs. Loved ones passing away, a 4 year failed marriage, growing up without a father to depend on, COVID-19, mental stability, emotional stability and maintaining support from the black community. So much has taken place during my journey, far more than I can explain, but I can say I’m very appreciative for my journey!

At the Haer Room Salon, we focus on one thing, and that’s the client. We go above and beyond to make sure the client is receiving the most for their money. We are happy to be Augusta’s first and only BBB accredited salon with an A ranking! We offer a wide variety of services ranging from healthy hair wraps, braid and loc extensions, specialty cuts, custom color, custom wig units and installations and so much more. I’m most proud of the professionalism and standards I’ve set for my brand. I stand behind it 100% and if it’s not right, I do my best to correct it within reason.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was an all-around quite guy. A little goofy at times but that was only if I knew you. Certain things happened in my life that caused me to protect myself even more and be cautious of who I share my energy with. I’ve always been a business-minded individual. I enjoyed working and servicing people, seeing them satisfied after I’ve helped them.
